Kaspersky is no longer available on the Carbonite via software sellers - I recon they have switched over to subscription based service.

To renew my total security service for 5 devices 2 years will cost R1326 - which feels like a lot.

Some options on carbonite
Avast premuim security 1 device 1 year for R109
AVG internet security 3 devices 1 year RR149

Can you give advice whether kaspersky is really worth the extra buck?
Do you know of a seller who still sells kaspersky original keys?

I have been using kaspsersky exclusively for many years, so i have no idea of other better priced options

You should give Kaspersky Free/Basic a go if you don't want to switch to something else.

You get the same core virus protection which doesn't miss a beat for malware and ransomware plus it's completely free and light on system resources.

If you don't need all the extra software like the VPN, password manager, game mode etc then the Free version should sort you out and will be a decent step up from Windows Defender. Comparison below:

Are you sending and receiving a lot of sensitive business information over email or instant messaging, teams etc? If no, Windows Defender is solid enough to protect you from malicious files that you may come across.

If you are accessing a lot of different dodgy sites on the internet and want to be covered then I would go for one of the above mentioned packages for your peace of mind.

A virus is not just going to plant itself on your computer, unless somebody is targeting you or your company personally, there is really no need for third party antivirus imo.

3rd party anti-virus for general use is stupid. Defender is light and less scummy than the 3rd party ones.

Business and because you are a targeted group/person then you're going to have to look into the stuff that is not the mainline stuff.
