Interesting question. I'm in the process (a slow one) of upgrading my system with Hertz. I'm not quite there yet though. Did some sound deadening in the doors over the weekend. Speakers will go in at a later stage.

This is too good of a deal to pass up - sell a kidney, borrow the money, do what you need to do but I doubt you will see another 2170 for sale anytime soon.
If I know Thomas he will hold it for you if you ask him to, within reason of course.

I had a sublime session with mine last night, couldn't stop listening until I was literally dozing off in my chair.
There is no better headphone/earspeaker experience at anywhere near this price (IMHO of course).

When I met @EliteOp, he came to collect a HD58X for his friend's? girlfriend... Not even for himself. Then he collected the box a few weeks later and told me he kept the HD58X... (That HD58X also belonged to Thomas first btw)

Now he has the complete Trio. I would like to think that it was the pure attraction of all the headphone goodness that was going on in my room upstairs at the time that simply compelled him to join in.

Congrats dude. Now the listening can begin?

I've gone for the HSK 165 components for the front doors. Seems I will needs to find a set of HCX 165 coax for the rear doors. The speakers I was planning on using (Earthquake vtek-62 coax) don't fit in the speaker ring that Honda uses. So I guess they'll be going up for sale or something.

I also have a Hertz HX300D sub that I'm going to sell- not going to use it and will probably need it to finance the HCX purchase. I believe I bought that sub here on Carb, but never got round to using it.

Plugged the 58x's into my phone and that alone had me like: "I was blind and now I see"or better yet, "deaf and now I hear" moment!
It's been a steep, no wait, free-fall rabbit hole for me..

and yes, afaik they (SRS-2170 stax)are no longer manufactured, so this set ain't going anywhere..

O'h I've been rotating extensively between my headies, but looking at the comments and reviews of owners, the stax will be getting all the attention for a while it seems.

When having 'sexy time' with Stax and electrostatic... It is important to remember how much voltage runs through those things... Could be near fatal if one were to make a mistake in performing the 'sexy time'. Fair warning.

aren't those the ones made by AKG for Samsung .... if so then they are okay but still not as good as the commercially available AKG models But decent enough as an entry level starter set ..... you will want better than those though

Just to give context, will be used for cycling during my commutes and Zwift (indoor training) as well as general music listening via Spotify.
