Good day all,

My son wants a gaming pc, so I have done some research. Being out the game for 15 years... I am lost.
Evetech has an upgrade kit for R5999. 00 sold out for now. From what I have heard AMD have OK on board graphics? I will upgrade this later. I want to add a ssd drive.

We have a HAF X case, keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Games to be played Fortnite, COD.....

I don't mind going second hand, but I have trust issues...

He is selling his Nintendo switch and should have about 8K.

Do I just go for the upgrade kit?

You can also try the carb resellers so see if they can assist you with something.

Then you have come to the right place :)

Evetech upgrade kits are not ideal for two reasons. 1) they tend to put together odd/mismatched combinations of parts; I believe this is because they use the kits to get rid of parts that don't sell well. 2) Evetech has a reputation for not honouring their warranties or only partially honouring them. Search this forum for "Evetech" and you will see people's stories.

Most AMD processors do not have onboard graphics at all, so they won't work without a graphics card. Only the ones with "G" at the end have onboard graphics, like the 3200G and 3400G. These ones will give fair performance for esports games, and low performance for more demanding games. You can add a GPU later.

Yes this is a good idea. You can have a small SSD, e.g. 240gb, for Windows, then a hard drive for storage.

The 3200G will run these without a GPU at okay settings.

Guys like @Petester or @Markingbird on the forum put together PCs from mixtures of new and 2nd hand parts. They have a good reputation and will probably help you if something fails. if you want a traditional warranty and want to buy new, you can shop at Wootware, Progenix, AnnihilationPC, PC Express/PC International, Computer Mania, Holland Tech, RockinIT, Rebel Gaming, or similar stores with reputations that are better than Evetech's. You can also message resellers directly on the forum to help you put something together - people like @Senshi/@PerformancePCs, @XtaCy696, and @PC Rescue all resell directly from suppliers, and with this route you also get the warranty.

8k is enough for a B450 motherboard, 16GB of RAM, a Ryzen 3200G or even 3400G, a 240GB SSD, and a 550W power supply (assuming you don't have one of these). If I were you I wouldn't really go any lower than the above specs when buying a new PC. However, if you go second hand, for the same price you can probably get a motherboard, RAM, CPU and an entry level GPU that will outperform the onboard Ryzen graphics.
Do I just go for the upgrade kit?
Again, even though it looks cheap and simple, I don't think it is a very good value proposition.

Thanks all, all his stuff is sold and we ready to buy. 😁

@goldfritter put it exceptionally well, I would just stay clear of PC Express/PC International until they sort out their issues.
They also recently started being a pain in the rear to deal with.

Just a note a used gpu is very expense atm. So source that first and hen get other parts. Else there will be lots of tears

For those games,

USED pc recommendations
cpu 3th gen i5 (4 core) stay away from the 1150 apprx r550 (intel 3470) (oem hsf)
450 psu
8 gb ram
mech hdd
22-24 inch monitor

vrr monitor with 75 hz but these will most likely be fressync with no dp so you will need a amd gpu

Hi all,

Thanks very much for all the information. Much appreciated!

@Vinnige Fanie sorted me out. Great service and nothing was to much trouble. It happened so quickly. I have the pc already 😁

Cheers.
