Hey guys I hope someone will be able to help. I bought a Gigabyte A520m S2H board it has 1 pcie 16x slot and 2 pcie 1x slots. I am only able to run 2 of my 3 cards it does not pic up the 3de card.
I have updated the bios and checked that above 4g encoding is enabled but still no luck.
I am running a 3400g cpu 16gb of ram and a nvme as a bootdrive and a sata hdd as i still need to use the pc as well.
I thing the A520 just does not have then needed pcie lans but im not sure.
Hopeing to get sone feedback from you guys.
Thanks

Does using the 3400g end up using some pcie lanes and that's why you possibly can't see the 3rd card?

Looks like it, maybe...

Try forcing the PCIe slots to run on Gen2 and then see if you have an option to force the first to X4 and the other 2 slots to X1, otherwise all to X1

The motherboard's A520 chipset only supplies 2x PCIe x1 lanes. The other PCIe lanes from the chipset are dedicated to the 4 SATA ports. The PCIe x16 lanes directly connect to the CPU which provides those PCIe lanes.

Straight from the Motherboard specs

  • Expansion Slots
    CPU:
    1. 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, supporting PCIe 3.0 and running at x16
    Chipset:
    1. 2 x PCI Express x1 slots, supporting PCIe 3.0

  • Storage Interface
    CPU:
    1. 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280 SATA and PCIe 3.0 x4/x2 SSD support)
    Chipset:
    1. 4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors
    2. Support for RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10
Try with only 2 gpus - one in the x16 and move the 2nd GPU from the one PCIe slot to the other and see if its picked up. The only thing you need to check is that both the slots are seeing the card - you may also want to check PCIEX16 Bifurcation in the BIOS and change from auto if the 3400G supports it.

If you cant see it in both slots the slot may be faulty or check the BIOS config to make sure its enabled. Disable SATA etc to test and see if somehow the PCIe lanes bandwidth has been allocated elsewhere.
