Good Day All

I was wondering something about Litecoin future value. We all know Bitcoin has skyrocketed almost right after all the Big Butterfly Labs ASIC Miners was released. Maybe it affected the Bitcoin Value, maybe it did not.

Well my topic is the now Alpha Technology has also developed a Viper 5Mh/s Miner working with Scrypt to mine Litecoins. So if my theory is correct, Litecoin value should increase as all these miners purchased comes online....

Thoughts??

Obvious out

I'll believe scrypt ASIC miners when I see them publicly available.

ASIC's won't be the only factor in LTC's value, it's inherently linked to BTC, so as BTC goes up in value, so does LTC.

That's what a lot of people said a couple of months ago before asics became available for btc: "i'll believe it when I see it"

Agreed, however BTC's value is linked to its ability to be spent, If online retailers don’t start accepting it i'm worried it may die, or simply be a means to convert into BTC.

Agreed. People place a value on "items". If people want it, they'll pay.

Scrypt mining is far more complex and requires VRAM where as SHA-256 does not. Creating miners for Scrpyt = massive expense compared to the ASIC's for SHA-256.

Litecoin is the 2nd biggest coin, it's only a matter of time until it's popularity and acceptance spreads.

I spoke to alpha technology to see if i can resell their Scrypt ASIC miners. And this is just my opinion and experience. Do with it what you want.

They refuse to deal with me as a reseller, and pushed me very hard to pay a deposit on the units i wanted. They cannot give me a specific date as to when they are a going to be able to ship. And then there is the price.

You could build your own scrypt miner that will do close to 5Mh/s anyway, and you might just have a bit of fun along the line, for almost exactly the same price too. (GPU's are quite expensive yes)

Overall my impression of them is not a very good one. But I am hoping to get my hands on a few of their 25MH/s badboys if and when they become available.

I foresee only good things coming for litecoin, and I firmly believe that mining hardware will be all worth it in the end.

Pretty much speaks volumes about their business ethics, smells like BFL all over again.

Stay away I'd say.

Still only pre-order so ETA 6 to 12 months, when they release Im out, LTC is and IMO will always be in BTC's shadow.

BFL i can actually communicate with. It seems that if i have the correct amount of buying power(which wont be difficult to find). That they would sell their new 600GH/s cards to me exclusively in SA. so 5 cards per mining rig = 3000GH/s. (that will turn a profit for sure)

I really hope it pans out, but they also cannot give me an exact date. And I dont see them keeping up with the demand. Especially since they made such a splash at CES this year.
