is there a benefit of having a Dashcam?

Instead of starting a new thread can we get some dash cam suggestions?

I have this one, and the quality is not bad at all. Be it a nice to have sometimes the shit you capture amazes you!

I only got one for the road I drive as it is really a pain in the balls and people drive like real "etters" so when a accident occur there is no need to be dick and just say oh shucks you have been caught!

Without a dashcam, how will you prove to the bros that you perfectly drifted through a right turn through an orange light?
Trust me bro, it's legit.

I'll send my ID as proof

So, speaking of Dashcams... the Mrs was on her way to an appt, some doos decided to just put his flicker on and try cut infront of her. She had to slam on brakes and she hooted. This doos proceeded to get out his car (stopped his car in 2 lanes mid traffic) walked all the way to her window, realised it was a woman and went back to his car.

She got a fright so didn't think to get his license plate (and our firearm licenses are still in the vokin process) So I want to get a dashcam now and been debating between these 2 on Takealot:

Wolfbox 4k

Wolfbox 2.5k

Anyone have any experience with these? The 4K comes with a rear cam which is pretty neat and a bit more budget friendly :)

Yoh that's hectic... Times like that you wish you had a dashcam.

I can't comment on those Wolfbox ones, but I can recommend Viofo dashcams. They use Sony lenses which work wonders, even at night time. Considering the legal battles and costs of your word against theirs in any road incident, a dashcam is kak cheap insurance. This will work excellently: Viofo A129 PRO DUO | The Car Dash Cam Store. I got mine from them. I am not affiliated at all.

I've had a dash cam for about 10 years now and in that time I've caught a few accidents, recorded some funny and scary happenings and even managed to record an accident of my own.

If you're ever like "Aaaah that was so strange, I wish I would have recorded that!", it would already have been recorded.

Where insurance is concerned, it's more of a personal insurance TBH. Your own personal little witness that no one can argue with🤣 Unfortunately if you catch on nonsense, it will be a witness against you😅. It hasn't lowered any of my insurance premiums over the last 10 years.

All in all a good investment though

Thanks! A bit over the budget but i'll take a look, maybe one that doesnt have a screen on, that will drive me binkers while driving lol. Though im sure it can be switched off :)

Will update as to what i purchase and score it... in my armchair expert opinion.

The screen goes off after 2 minutes when starting the car. And it's ideal to stick it behind the rearview mirror, so you only see the screen when lurching forward to see behind the mirror.

Shap! Let us know :)
