I've been using this setup for a loooong time (with multiple drives (increasing in size) over the years as my main media host for editing. It's super-fast, especially when run in Raid 0.
Obviously, that's not the safest way to run it, so using Raid 5 using Storage Spaces was perfect too, as write speed isn't a problem when you are editing.
The unit runs cool and quiet.
The HDD's are all in good health.
