It depends what is wrong with it, but in most cases probably not. Also had one base station die within 6 months, not repairable.
Was still able to play with 1 base station though.

LPT: Upgrade the fresnel lenses to GEAR VR lenses, makes the experience 100% better. Get a friend to 3d print the holders for the lenses, easy upgrade.

I worry that something like Half Life: Alyx with one base station won't be a great experience.
I was actually looking for my brother as I have the Rift CV1.
I've heard about the Gear VR mod.. is it quite a lot better on the rift too?

I can confirm that Halflife Alyx works excellent on one base station with my Vive currently. It has a rotation system that saves you from having to turn around. Still awesome lol
