HeaDphone Discussions. (Audiophile and Gaming)

To be honest the recommendations around AudioGd r2r11 and Sennies you have made where spot on for me.
Had the 600's and bought a set of 650's for the wife.
Liked hers more and could not persuade her to swop (she liked the color of the 650's more).
Hd600's are also good, but after hearing the 650's I preferred them, enough to sell the 600's and order my own.
Each to their own I suppose as its subjective, but the your recommendations to date (for me) have been great.

I Also ended up buying a couple of in-ears , the Tin T4, P1 and a 1more triple I bought on impulse from a takealot sale.
End up using the 1more (cheapest of the bunch) the most, as it sounds the best without an amp so its with me the most.
T4's also great but the P1 really needs power to make it sound good. (Dragonfly red to the rescue)
Will eventually need to sell some of the stuff I bought because in retrospect (after writing this) I have too much :)

Scratch out that lcd2 Ive been drooling over on AudioHead | Online High-end Headphone Store in South Africa for the last 6 months.
Is the 1more you bought the BT ones or wired?
For some reason the wired ones are double the price of the BT, and I need to decide between the two.

Some stuff I'm selling. Will post as soon as I have the energy to take photos - probably this evening.

1. Audio GD R28 DAC/amp
2. Matrix XSPDIF 2
3. Little Dot 3 (with upgraded circuitry) + custom cut clear perspex dust cover + Voskhod tubes (very nice optional add-on)
4. 2x Brainwavz earpads (1x leather and 1x velor)
5. Modmic Wireless
6. 2x Astro A50 (possibly)
7. Most likely something else I forgot to mention

These Brainwavz earpads? I might be keen on the velour one. ;)

Require some advice gents,

I recently find myself moving a lot around my room between my desk, soldering station and printers etc.

What do you guys suggest for a wireless open back solution? I hate using closed back while on discord.
There aren't many wireless options.

Why not get a bluetooth receiver that you can plug into your current headset instead to make it "wireless"?

Velor is (not) sold (anymore). Leather may be spoken for - someone actively talking to me on whatsapp.

I posted everything on AVF. Didn't have time to post on Carb yet because of the template requirements (too time consuming and I have a day full of meetings). I'll post here what's left later this evening.

Zeos reviewed some expensive wireless Grados he really liked a little while ago
Maybe that's the way to go?

Thank you! Like Chevez said, there's little to nothing...

Damn. I really want to avoid jerry rigging some adapter to my headphone band.

That's fantastic! I wish that it was in black though. I might still splurge though.
Cplan Audio has some in stock of the Hifiman Deva.

If I had to go wireless I'd be very tempted to get the Drop's + THX Panda. Just a pity it's not open back, but man those reviews are high on the rave meter.

Any reason why the thread is about heaphones and not heaDphones?

EDIT: capital D

never saw reviews etc on the BT ones
I have a set of 1More triple BT.

To put it in perspective, my experience with heaDphones consists of:
1more triples
Sennie hd 202 way back when
Sennie hd 599cs
Shp9500

So take from that what you want, I don't have nearly as much experience as some of you guys, but out of those, the 1More's are probably my favourite out of the bunch. Nice low end for that which I have to compare it with, and being wireless (and closed) it's also the only ones I can walk around with at the office and take to the gym / park runs - pre-covid obviously. I'm assuming that the sound quality / signature would be much like the wired ones. I prefer foam tips over the silicone ones, even though I've already destroyed the tips Ive been using. I'll be looking for some aftermarket foam tips- not sure which to for though.

Battery life is also decent, though I haven't timed it, I estimate around 6h playback at mid-high volume levels, using LDAC.

My only wish was that the quad drivers was available with BT (even though I haven't listened to them, I have an itch for those).

If you can get hold of comply foam tips, they are pretty cool.
I couldnt find any locally anymore (used to be on takealot), so ordered directly from them.
Took about 3 -4 weeks to get to me.

I just checked their website, they don't have S.A. listed as 'n shipping destination.

I logged in there and see they suspended shipping to SA due to covid.
looked for detail and found,

South Africa

4-10-20

The South African Post Office advises that the government lockdown has been extended by another two weeks from April 17 to April 30, 2020, owing to the outbreak and rapid spread of COVID-19 and the increasing number of infections in South Africa. Consequently, it is declaring a situation of force majeure in relation to the standards affected as a result, including the quality link to remuneration for letter post and parcel post.

Normal services are expected to resume on May 4, 2020.

All other conditions set out in March 26, 2020 alert remain unchanged.

So it looks like no one told them that we can get mail again.

Maybe pop them a mail and ask?

another option is Spinfit, not foam , but pretty cool silicon ones.

And available locally
I'll have a look at those, thanks. I did log a ticket with Comply. They claim they suspended shipping to S.A. prior to covid as packages were lost/not being delivered (3 guesses as to why?) and then Covid came along. So who knows, maybe in the future I might get lucky. I also see amazon us doesn't have the comply's that fit the 1More's, but amazon Canada has, but they don't ship here, or at least not that item.

Check out [Reseller] - Scott's Shipping Services | Resellers Forum

He can get it for you and has gotten good reviews on carb.

Hope someone here can help me out.

Recently bought the Fiio E10K, to pair with my Sennheiser GSP600 headset. I'm no audio expert but apart from the audio being louder than it was before, I can also hear a lot more (in music and games). Since plugging it in I get very faint static at the end of an audio stream. So in game I'll never hear it as there is a constant stream of audio, but when I'm out of game and in Discord, pretty much every time someone stops speaking static comes through.

I've tried:
- Installing the Fiio software, still does it. Didn't notice much of a difference with it as to without it so I just left it uninstalled. If someone understands what this software does please let me know.
- Making sure the ports where its plugging in are adequately clean.
- Tried different ports for the E10K on the back of my mobo. Also tried the front ports on the front of my case.
- In general I've always struggled with Realtek audio drivers. Their website has terrible download speeds, and I always managed to find a bunch of different versions not knowing which I should and shouldn't use and which is the latest.
- I went into my sound controls for the E10K disabled all enhancements and disabling “letting applications take control over the device” option. I can't remember if the "let applications take control over this device" option was checked or not when I had the Fiio software installed, not sure if this would make a difference.
- I did read somewhere someone just reset their Discord audio settings. I tried this, it seemed to work at first but it seems to be back to the way it was now. Although I did change a few things in the settings, may need to relook at this again and check.
- The volume knob on the E10K is about at 60%-70% at the moment.
- Tried different mic cables thinking the static was coming from there. But not entirely sure if it would affect the audio. The mic extension cable and E10K sit right next to one another.
- The E10K is currently placed under my monitor, not sure if this effects it with other hardware running next to it.

*I will point out, as the E10K only does audio (no mic input). I run my headset audio straight into the E10K and then have a mic extension cable which sits right next to the E10K. Not sure if this is important/relevant.

How are you feeding it?
Is the PC the source, if so, it could be noise from the USB.

Yeah, currently using the USB cable that came with the E10K, plugged straight into one of the ports in my mobo (USB 3).
Mobo is an Asus Maximus X Hero.
