I am a firm believer in good data. I wish we had these figures from all hospitals

NEW-WTH-COVID-Update-September-1-2021-1536x1508.jpg

This hospital suffering from patient overload which could have been reduced to a much more manageable amount if more people had been vaccinated.

And the vaccine is clearly doing something to prevent the extreme and deadly cases.

Here's a nice hopefully picture for the world populous.

Even though daily cases are about the same during the various waves there is a clear decrease in corresponding deaths.

Mmmmmm tasty numbers. I love infographics like that - gets a message across quickly and in a simple way.
Did a quick background check on this: 43% of the Tenessee population is fully vaccinated, so if the vaccine wasn't working then the spread in hospitals should be around 43%/57%....and it isn't. Go get jabbed, people.

Also, I really feel bad for the dude who got vaccinated and still ended up on a ventilator :(

Can't wait for the usual forum antivaxxers to pounce on this one pointing out how their brand of stupid trumps your infographic based on facts.

Well that's why I'm putting this out there, so all the toilet time researchers can perhaps stumble across this. I hope I my title appeals enough to them tho... If anyone has a more clickbaity suggestion, please do put it forward

This cool, anyone with a little energy maybe we can use it compare the introduction/uptake of vaccine and the corresponding death rates

From one of our very own hospitals.

This is good, however it is not easy to compare to the Tennessee data without better numbers on the % of people vaccinated in each hospital's area.

As the % vaccinated in the general public increases, so will the % vaccinated in each of the above categories in the infographic - this is because there are more vaccinated people in the population, not because the vaccines' effectiveness at preventing serious illness is lower.

About 17% fully or partially vaccinated in SA currently, but I do concur, we need more data.

So the way I see it is either:
1) get everyone vaccinated so we can see the true effect in hospital numbers or
2) separate the vaccinated from the non-vaccinated geographically, maybe a sort of beach holiday resort with people chanting about corona like they are invulnerable?

So back to the Tennessee stats

42% vaccinated in the state currently vs the 9% vaccinated in West Tennessee hospital on the 1st Sep

I vote for this option. Beach holiday though seems almost a reward for their ignorance. Ignorance and idiocy should NEVER we rewarded or encouraged.
Dropping 'em off in the middle of the Namib would be way more appropriate. Let 'em figure it out Survivor style.

Is jy dom of iets? I wasn't disputing anything. I was merely jesting at the fact that you people keep bashing your head against the antivaxxers which clearly isn't working.

PS. I got my fucking Phizer two weeks ago. Guess which camp I'm at?

I wasn't bashing until you came along this was a thread about data. Go back to your smack talk please. Mods feel free to clean up these posts.

Would you ever give it a rest? It's always just "I can't wait for anti-whatever" from you.
Would I ? No - not really.
Thanks for asking though.

You could always hit the ignore on me if your panties get so twisted so fast.I'd strongly encourage you to hit the ignore.
Thanks

Don't see why it won't belong in smack talk. Hardly a sport or fitness thread.

Need more good data either way though difficult find in today's world though.

Well if there was a Health sub forum I would stick it there, but we seem short one of those, so I tried to make a plan. Closest I could find. Hate smack talk generally, full of nut heads there with too much time and not enough sense most of the time.

In Florida, 13,941,335 people or 64% of the state has received at least one dose.

Overall, 11,673,147 people or 54% of Florida's population has been fully vaccinated.

So not VAX stuff, but equally as important and would probably have the same effect as the vaccine if everyone used them correctly.

They did a huge study on surgical vs cloth vs no masks in Bangladesh villages. They did it there as they needed a control group of people not wearing masks. You can't ask people to not wear them, but you can promote their use where they weren't already being used.

"Mask wearing increased dramatically in the villages where it was promoted. Covid infections went down. In some of the villages, surgical masks were promoted; in others, cloth masks were promoted. The villages with surgical masks did better. Interestingly, although the cloth masks did not reduce the number of confirmed Covid infections by much (in fact the cloth mask reduction may only be due to chance) it reduced the number of people with Covid symptoms significantly."

The study pdf is linked in this article:
