New Subaru WRX 665k

Subaru PMb(KZN)
Subaru Westrand
I have looked at the WRX and though the community is good, I just am not a huge fan of the body. I want something that is sort of in the middle of performance and comfort. If the A4/A5 was a bit more performing I would go that route but if I dont go the Alfa route then I might do a 330i or maybe an S3. Budget is around 700k-750k depending on age. Any suggestions?

I also looked at the Kona N and a TTS but would prefer a sedan or hatch over a coupe. Also looking at the M235 (though the body is a hit or miss) or maybe a M135 (but they are pretty pricey.

Some of the 330is can have a good combo of both. If you want the funnest possible care you could get I would probably get a Yaris GR. Those things are crazy and >200kw with a tune. Also interested to see what @aiccc suggests though
DO IT!

But only when you pronounce it properly - GR Yaris.

I have one. It is a sublime chunk of metal and oil.

Does not compute. Wife = kids = four doors = Corolla. Logic.
I am curious what you guys think of the 2024 GR86? Its another well priced option for me. Just will miss the four doors

Also as a general update, I phone Stellantis and the person I spoke to said they wouldn't cover the car. I then informed the dealer and they said they had an agreement with Stellantis so i asked that they get the agreement written down acknowledging the car history and that the maintenance will be upheld. I will get that confirmed but it would be interesting if Stellantis is willing to cover the risk. They must really think the car is fine

The car has been in that lot for a while.
You'll notice the pics are from Feb as well.

Something fishy and best to just let this one pass.

btw - I'm in the market for a Stelvio Veloce (2022>) as well, so I frequent the ads (AutoT & Cars) quite a bit.;)

Yea my assumption is that no one is willing to buy the car because of the history but concern is offset by wondering if I will get a brand new Giullia engine under warranty in a years time of owning it.

That being said, I might go look at a GR86 as well otherwise maybe I will wait and see if the one at Haval in roodepoort comes down in price. That one looks nice as well.

Thing is I got a great tradein value on my GTI and I kind of want to sell and move on while its high. Really running out of ideas of what to get though

Good car, although a little underpowered if you're used to the torque from a turbo'd mill - you certainly won't win many TLGPs. But because it's light and there's enough grunt, you'll likely find yourself having lots more fun than you would with a front-wheel drive turbo'd car.

That's what I've found with the Yaris. It's thirsty, the suspension is jarring on SA's roads, the boot is preposterously tiny and only legless midgets can fit in the back seats but good grief, does it make you chuckle when you give it the beans.

Yea but you see thats the issue. I kind of want a mix between comfort with some performance. An A4 would be great if they were sub 6 second.

I think I am going to go drive a i30N this weekend and hopefully a 330i. I am pretty hopeful about the 330i.

I would be extremely surprised if any OEM Warranty or Maintenance Plan would be honoured on a car that has been not only been tuned but also hardware modifications.
Unless it is stated in writing, stay far far away.
SAC are aftermarket, and I trust them the same way I trust car salesman and estate agents. norrafok

If you go BMW please don't go petrol, diesel all the way if you don't want any headaches.

I think you will be impressed with the i30N, make sure they put it in N mode for you. Has the benefit of a much lower theft risk and Hyundai comes with quite a long warranty/service plan.

Looked at maybe the Type R FK8? Loads of fun,but a daily that's easy to live with. There is a 2nd hand FL5 for sale, but a taaaaad expensive 😅

Tracked your GR Yaris yet? Had quite a bit of fun chasing and being chased by them at Redstar. Bloody brilliant car

Yea my experience with them was odd to say the least. None of them really knew who worked on the car until I found out the exhaust was custom made and fitted by one of their partners (they seem to outsource that work).

Also the tune seems to be a unichip tune and not Squadra which worries me.

Nonetheless, I get some confidence if Stellantis agrees to the terms though I doubt they would ever take on that risk. Alternatively I might go for the white one in roodepoort or maybe a 330i or something

Is there a reason why? Doesn't seem like they make a diesel version of the 330.

Man the i30N sounds absolutely insane considering the car. The only thing that I would miss is that semi-luxury feel that I get from something like the Alfa. I could maybe look around for an M135 or an M235 (though the body is meh on the new ones)

I have considered them but doesn't seem like I can get one within warranty for under 800k. Awesome car though!

I have a Giulia Super, going on 4 years now not a single day of Kak and its a pleasure to drive.
Gives me hope for potentially getting the Veloce in Roodepoort if the price drops a bit more

I really doubt that the “agreement with Stellantis” exists.

Yup, slowly losing hope. Didnt hear anything from them today but I see the one in roodepoort has dropped to 600k

Thanks! I haven't for even a moment regretted buying it. It's like a a lightly-damaged rollercoaster: compromised but lots of fun.

I've tracked mine once but eager to do it again when I get the time. A dude in the GR Yaris Owners Club has even made a rally/offroad version of his car. Apparently a versatile thing!

Yebo. Know the guy! I see he also did VIlaca. Really nice build! Should join in for some track days! Will give you a shout!(y)

@SamuelK For your 700-750k budget i'd go with an RS3 sedan... balance between luxury, looks, and a symphonic 5-pot. Lots of headroom for performance modification and plenty of "hidden" power on tap with just a software remap.

Been a while but I ended up going for a cheaper run around for now. I decided I would rather save the cash and spend it on a car I actually want in the future rather than trying to justify something I am not one hundred percent sold on. Quadrifoglio here I come
