Hey Carbies,

I know this topic has been discussed many times over on this forum...
I need some help please - after 6 years with Home-Connect, I have put in my cancellation due to erratic speeds, buffering and poor service.
I currently have a 200/200 Mbps link and I need an ISP that is able to resolve issues quickly and have minimal (if any) buffering while streaming on Showmax Sports or F1 as I have a 'quick line!'
Am based in Randburg.
PS: Whilst all techs and 'IT people' swear by Afrihost, the Home-Connect changeover to Afrihost wasnt great so I am not impressed anymore.
I see lots of providers on the Vumatel shop but I have not seen many of these names before and I am not sure if they have redundancy and if they are good long term options.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank You.

I've used Supersonic first for two years, technical support basically non existent but line was always perfect so never needed support.

Moved premises and tried Home Connect, internet less stable but still great. Technical support was always available when needed, line speed issue was never resolved though and always waited for this to sort itself out. ( never had any buffering on a 200MB line only noticed drop in speeds when doing a random speed test).

Moved again and currently with Vox 1Gig BF deal, changed routers from their supplied Mikrotik to my own router and speed dropped to 100Mb. Called at 11PM and techie reset reset my port and made a note on my account if anything happens again as to what he did as something needed to be reset as the sync speed was locked to their supplied router and they needed to release something ( not sure about the Technical detail) but their support was great.

Never check speeds as nothing buffers and I have 4 devices constantly streaming at 4k at any given point so no need to check speeds. I would recommend Vox any day and for the price I'm paying it's a no brainer.

Been with Afrihost for a looooong time now. As long as you are on MyBB your issues will be resolved quiet easily. No speed issues and quite responsive on the forum.

Had a great time with WebSquad also

I second this. Vox offers real 24/7 tech support and issues are resolved quickly!

I'm with VOX on vumatel. They not the cheapest but I've never really had any issues with them. Always get notifications when there's issues in the area but thankfully have never affected me.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for sharing your experiences - I am checking out Vox and Cool Ideas and am engaging them as we speak.
Appreciate your input.

I would recommend against Vox - Yes 24/7 technical support is nice but some of these techies have no clue and only give the general scripted responses.

Also my issue still persists, from my house to my local hub in Durban I get 1000 Mbps but after that its a complete shit show, my house to JHB 500Mbps, my house to CPT 350Mbps (First world issues, I know, but when I'm busy streaming anime, my wife is affected when she has to screen connect with her users in the US/UK.) The techies keep on saying the splice needs to be re-done by Vumatel at my house.....

Anywhoo rant over.

I hear good things about Cool Ideas

How do I test/gauge this? Ill try it tonight

Cool Ideas user and I am happy. Stable speed, decent lead times and comms.

Been with afrihost for a while now, have no complaints, support is quick, and their techs know what they're talking about.... had a random convo with a agent over their whatsapp portal and ended up diving deep into a pfsense conversation

CISP gets my vote. I had a VoIP phone (not supplied by them) which I needed assistance configuring. They don't know Yealink at all, so the support agent spent about an hour researching my specific model, logged in over Team Viewer, and 10 minutes later I was sorted. No charge.

That's the only time I've needed their support in the last +/- 4 years.
