As the title states - what has your experience been like with AMD GPUs?

The Ryzen series took the PC gaming hardware world by storm, have the AMD GPUs done the same?

If you have any comments, please state what GPU and CPU you are running.

I've used:RX 470, 480, 570, 580, 5500 XT, 6600 XT and now 7700 XT.

I have had some driver issues over the years in some games but on the whole no real issues.

One issue that I experienced was with two different XFX 6600 XT and two different Gigabyte B550 boards where for some reason when the PC was meant to go to sleep instead it would restart. No idea why the two brands seemed to not play nice.

Also, I don't use RTX of course.

I have used the 6600 and the 6800Xt most recently and only ever had issues with COD where the game would crash when you do something specific in game. this known bug was never patched by the developers or Driver Updates

So overall, it's been a positive experience?

I have had 5700xt, 6600xt, 6800xt, 6900xt, 7900xt.

5700xt - favorite of all never had issues ran like a dream.

6600xt - Great value for money when I was between cards.

6800xt - first card to struggle with drivers, would randomly restart when under heavy load.

6900xt - second card to struggle with drivers, but a roll back at some stage sorted everything and never had issues after that.

7900xt - Little bit of fire and smoke from the board power connector area, busy getting it sorted through warranty. Drivers wise absolutely no issues.

Overall positive and super value for money.

Started on a 6800xt, now on a 7900xt, very few problems, I have no regrets, I doubt I will change. I also run a 7800x3d and it's a CPU I do not for one second regret buying.

I’ve had my 6800 XT for over a year now and love it to bits.

Running flawlessly with an undervolt and I haven’t had a single crash or driver issue so far.

It would be foolish to ignore AMD as an option.

Their drivers have been good of late and even Nvidia has driver bugs at times.

I dont think there is an AMD gpu that i didnt have except the 7900 xtx (eendag as ek groot is) and prefer over nvidia. I personally have never had any driver issues. My bios of mobos have always been up to date as well as the updates of whatever OS i ran. Even in linux i had a better experioence than with nvidia. Colors are more vibrant and no need to tinker with settings to get high fps. Itr just works.

I've been lucky with AMD cards. I don't play the latest and greatest, so I undervolt my cards.
My Rx580 would undervolt to 985mV (default is 1150 I think)
My current 6700xt is undervolted to 1097mV @ 2581mhz, it can go down to 1090mV but it will crash on Crusader Kings 3 late game whilst everything else works perfect on high settings.

AMD are unbeatable budget cards.

I've owned about 4 of them over the years, most recently a 5700xt (paired with a 3700x). Had some driver issues initially, but they sorted it out within a month or two from the release. A mostly positive experience and I would definitely consider them again if the performance for the price is right. I game at 1440p it and it still does pretty well.

i owned a 6500xt once garbage gpu frame stutters like crazy and its known on the web , aparently its a laptop gpu they made for a desktop because of leftover chips would never touch a 6500xt again

I've had better experiences with AMD Gpus vs Nvidia.

I have a nvidia GPU now but would love to get a 7700XT in the future, maybe towards the end of the year

Ive had a Radeon eyefinity 5870, a 6600xt, a 6800 and a 6800xt. I have had one glitch so far on the 6800xt. Other than that smooth sailing.

Also had multiple NVIDIA Gpu's over the years.

Edit: Oh, I forgot I had a R9 390 at some stage. That's one's drivers was a bit tricky to get stable, but once it was, no problems.

Had multiple cards over the ages. Currently rocking a 6900xt. I will admit that the best card I ever owned was an Nvidia gtx1080 but AMD cards are more than solid as long as you ignore RT.

I am currently looking into maybe doing a slight upgrade to the 7900 GRE but it is currently a coin toss. R15k for similar performance to what I currently have is not a good way to spend money.

Last time I had an issue was back in the day when you had to have specific catalyst drivers on AGP GPU's still worked great. Back then had no internet as well and had to get these drivers from pc format issue/NAG.

Currently Running a 6600 XT would love to get hold of a 6800 xt / 6950 xt, just still to expensive to justify the purchase of the card. Had loads of Nvidia GPU's as well value for money I just prefer AMD GPU especially when using an AMD CPU benefit is you can activate SAM when got the right gen cpu + gpu.

I moved from a 1070 to a 6700xt for light video editing and much RTS, FPS and racing gaming. Never had issues on either but since Geforce experience required a login at the time, I never bothered with it and barely used Nvidia control panel.

Since my 6700 XT about a year ago, I have been actually using the Radeon software for a bunch of things including undervolting and it has worked wonders. Only issue was some of my gaming hot keys were used by the AMD software which obviously brought some minor confusion the first time I encountered that issue.

Edit: also was on Ryzen while I had these GPUs (1600 -> 5600X)

I am currently using an ASUS Dual RX 6600 (w/Ryzen 5 4650G CPU). It does precisely what I want, which is 60fps medium graphics on +3-year-old titles at 1080p. And it does it with minimal power usage thanks to the easy-to-use 'Auto-Undervolt' feature. Power usage and 8GB VRAM at an affordable price were the reasons I chose an RX 6600.

I've never had issues in-game. I did have an issue with a driver once, but the 'Factory Reset' option in the installer sorted it out. I also had an issue with the card's fan rattling, but that's on the OEM rather than AMD.

My only experience with Nvidia is with a laptop 920M, which isn't comparable. I didn't particularly like using the GeForce software to configure the graphics settings.

I'm pleased with what I have. The next GPU will likely be an AMD GPU as well unless Nvidia starts delivering better bang for the buck.
