So, this torch. Bought it a few years ago as a "car torch" to have in the cubby hole should I need a light somewhere. I've come to the conclusion after three and a half years that I haven't used it as a "car torch" since I bought it, and therefore server no purpose. I've used it a few times here and there to show off it's lekker throw and beam, but that's about it. I don't believe it has even run through a full set of batteries. Anyway, it's of no use to me and I would rather invest that money elsewhere.

I have it's packaging, but it looks terrible. It was tossed in a box a long time ago and forgotten, so I'm just saying "don't have it". I have the manual, warranty card (which is useless since the warranty is long gone), carry "pouch" and the little baggie with the spares it came with (lanyard, magnetic spacer and spare O-ring).

About this torch? It looks bigger than it is on the pics, and is actually quite light and slim. It runs off 4 x CR123 or 2 x 18650 batteries. It delivers 780 lumens of neutral white light with a good colour rendition in a relatively tight spot, with a slight throw. It is not adjustable, so the beam you get is the beam you got. I used this beam mostly as a "showoff" to family and friends, lighting up the tree waaaaay over there and pointing out birds and other animals at night when visiting the Kruger. It's a nice light and I'm probably going to miss it, but I cannot justify keeping it any longer as unused. So, specifications on it...

Like other modern lights, it is made from aircraft grade aluminum stuffies and is fully IPX-8 waterproof rated, is 1m impact resistant with a type 111 hard-anodized finish across the board, including on the screw threads.

It has 4 operation modes, which are all controlled with the same side-mounted switch. Long-press the switch to turn the light on or off (0.5 second press) and quick press to cycle through the modes. It will remember and start up in the last used power mode. The 4 modes it has are 780, 236, 74 and 23 lumens respectively, with run times varying between 1 hour 45 minutes on the highest setting to 80 hours on the lowest setting. These times obviously vary depending on which batteries are used, but I can attest that it lasts a long time.

The torch also has a lekker "half length" feature, which is very useful if you need a shorter torch or you only have one charged battery at your disposal. Essentially the torch's main tube screws in half, and the tail cap then screws onto the half torch like normal. You can then use the torch with 2 x CR123 batteries or 1 x 18650 as normal. The achieved brightness from this shorter mode isn't quoted by Fenix, but from my personal testing it seems like the torch attains the same brightness as when it is in full length mode. It's only the battery lifespan that's reduced.

Other specifications are numbers like a 147g weight (when empty), which is VERY light, 207mm length and a 40mm head diameter. It has reverse polarity protection, overheating protection and all that other goodies also built in, so this torch will probably last plenty more years to come.

PS: Batteries are NOT included.

Here you can see the few tiny marks on the torch:
