F1 2024

Wait , who's the movie based on?
Think a fictional character, probably a guy who had a tough life struggling to pursue his passion to make it to F1 and now he's washed up but thinks he has a ability to win another F1 championship against all odds so pretty much loosely based of Lewis and Alonso.

So apparently Toyota is in discussion with Haas about becoming a title sponsor, like Alpha Romeo - Sauber was. It would start as a sponsor and then grow into more, possibly becoming a full Toyota works team in future. Could be interesting....

a full Toyota works team

It's apparently a modified F2 car
Realized yesterday

Kexit confirmed.

Not hugely surprising, unfortunately. Now the question is, who will partner Bearman at Haas? The article mentions Ocon - with him and a rookie, that might get pretty spicy.

I highly doubt Ocon will get a seat again

He's French which definitely helped the whole Alpine deal

But he's also a doos and plays bad with teammates ontop of not being a regular podium contender.

Fuck that he won a race, Alonso won that race for him

Interesting times. I think the driver market has ground to a halt until Mercedes/Max/Redbull pull the trigger, then it will all fall into place fairly quickly. It's clear that Checo needs to move, maybe Hadjar will end up at VCARB, and maybe Lawson/Daniel at RB? 🤷‍♂️
All other teams will have ideas/plans, but with the likes of drivers like Sainz waiting in limbo, it doesn't make sense for any team to sign a driver, when they could very well snap up Sainz if it all goes to shit.

Also possibility of a technical partnership between HAAS & Toyota. I saw a video on it last night. Looks like F1 is certainly peaking a lot of interest, even from the likes of Toyota that epically failed in their 10 year streak in F1. They sank a tremendous amount of money into it, but probably didn't have the right people in the right places to get the right results.

I saw this as well. They had 10 terrible years in F1 and the team they want to partner with was 10th twice in the constructors during the past 3 years. It all makes sense now

At least from 10th, they can't do worse. Just i wonder how much under performance Bearman can handle, although the Hulk has been something else in the HAAS of late

Honestly don't know what to think regarding the Drivers market at the moment, whether its Max shocking everyone going to Mercedes, Perez being dropped for Daniel or Yuki or by some miracle Sainz joining RB next year or even crazier mid season.

The fact that Sainz has not made an announcement leads me to think theres drama ahead no ways a driver of his level ends up at William, Haas or Alpine. He'd be gunning at a top spot like Mercedes or RB.

If that does happen his manager is as competent as the Ferrari Strategists.

You mustn't forget about Audi in these discussions. Especially with Carlos Sr. having close ties with them already. There's no way to know how well they'll do in F1, but if their performance in other motorsports is anything to go by, there's a chance they'll be competitive right from the start.

Their engine is apprently up and running. Not sure where I saw this. But with 2026 still some way off, that is VERY good going.

I agree with you but that's only in 2026 when teams like Mercedes and Redbull have potential seats open for 2025 I think his currently in negotiation with both teams but wants a multi year contract which they might be pushing back on.

Where Audi could be a massive risk at the same time for a new team to come into F1 and start competing at the front is not likely they will probably be in the mid field to start off (Brawn GP doesn't count because of Brawn obviously)

His best bet would be to try negotiate with Mercedes or RB for a 2 year contract and a possible 3rd year based off performance.

Who has an outside chance this weekend ?

Ham is a master at this track, Ver is well ...Ver

Maybe a McLaren win again

I just foresee excitement again very sunny weekend predicted so little chance for weather interference

Its a track not known for overtaking so as with Monaco qualifying is going to be important.

- Redbull are quick on low to medium speed corners so they should be quick and they bringing upgrades.
- McLaren are quick overall so they will do well but that's if they can qualify at the front.
- Mercedes are quick in medium to fast corners so it might be a tricker weekend for them compared to Silverstone.

With the high temperatures forecasted for the weekend tire management is going to be very important and the McLaren's are probably the best at tire preservation.

I'm going to say Max gets pole, then Lando followed by either Lewis or George.

For the race Max keeps Lando behind him at turn one and we have a tire management and pit strategy race till the end with Lando having a few possible overtake opportunities with the possibility of them crashing again, because Max is not letting him past.

I'll be very chuffed if Lewis wins again tbh

Fucken love that there's some uncertainty going into races again

I wouldn't mind a Piastri win seeing that he's been the punching bag for the McLaren Strategists.

And I'm slowly starting to not like Lando because of the way he speaks about other drivers meaning both Max and Lewis regarding them only winning because they were lucky enough to have the fastest car, where he currently has the fastest car but is unable to win or make it count.

If you look at the likes of Max, Lewis, Seb and Alonso they always acknowledge each others skills even though they might be in the best car regardless of if they like said driver.

Redbulls upgrades looking very good so far, Max can now ride the curbs aggressively again and he's on average 12kph quicker in the corners than Perez without the upgrades. (Although it is Perez which isn't a good benchmark)

Let just hope they not to quick where he runs away with wins, F1 just got interesting again!
