So I recently bought a dell dock with a 180w AC adapter for my friend so that he can have additional external monitors for his setup.

However, every time he hops into a game, 20-30 minutes later the dock seems to 'lose power' and stops supporting the external monitors.

The dock is plugged into the gaming laptop through a USB-C cable, the USB-C port on the laptop is only DP certified, I don't believe it is a thunderbolt port.

I am not sure if this is directly a power delivery problem to the dock, or if it is maybe faulty?

Any advice?

Reading Dell's website, this may be due to an overheating issue which causes the overheating prevention mechanism to kick in and shuts the dock down (Which sounds highly similar to the situation occurring here). So how to cool a docking port would be my next question, but maybe disconnecting the external monitors during gaming may be the only solution.
