Just lost an important game to what I believe to be a card mechanic failure.

Cards in play on opponent's side:
Avenge: Secret: When one of your minions dies, give a random friendly minion +3/+2
Nerubian Egg: 0/2: Deathrattle: Summon a 4/4 Nerubian
...and a 1/1 critter

Opponent gives Nerubian Egg +3 attack, kills my 2/3 with it, it dies and produces a 4/4. Fine.
But the secret doesn't trigger!
He then suicides the 1/1, the secret triggers and his 4/4 gets +3/+2

Um...Wut?

The nerubian did not exist as a unit until after its death. The secret monitors existing units to which it will trigger. The developers could add an extra step in the process for death rattle units that produce new units. You could log it as a bug or raise it on the Hearthstone Blizzard forum.

confused...

how would you have won if whatever happened that you see as a faulty mechanic, didn't happen?

Eyenstyn's explanation sounds best, if you were to take "stacking" into account.

round starts - Secret active constantly searching - Egg dies and as Secret still searching, no friendlies active until the Deathrattle

how did 1/1 get suicide?

He had the egg and a 1/1 in play. When he attacked with the egg and killed it, the 1/1 should have got +3/+2, resulting in a 4/3, as well as the 4/4 from the egg.

Instead he ended up with a 7/6 after his 1/1 died attacking my 2/1.

I was on 6 health and only had a flamestrike (4 damage to all enemy minions).

hmmmm ok so I initially misread the whole OP

I now actually see what you were trying to say and I actually agree, the 1/1 should have gotten the 3/2

the outcome would have still been the same though?

Secrets trigger on the opponents turn so if your opponent was attacking you then none of his/her minions should have received the avenge buff.
