Delidding that chip isn't easy. It has more glue and needs more force so some SMD can be damaged if you are not really careful but I believe he uses a proper delidding tool so I would guess it should not be a problem.
So this poll has been running a while what would the price be for a copper IHS. Review shows not a lot to gain with copper but making it bigger than the old IHS makes it look really nice.
A long overdue report back on this gentleman's delid service ~
After making payment, he sent a courier to come collect my 4790k from Cape Town. After receiving it, he first did a benchmark on stock clocks with a stock hsf. During benchmarks the cpu would hit 100c and start throttling. After meticulously completing the delid process, he reran the benchmark. Temps would now hit a maximum of 81c without any throttling under the same conditions (all this info was emailed back to me). After a few days, I received the cpu back in WAY better packaging I sent it in. The cpu looked cleaner than I sent it, even though I thought I did a good job!
I was also kept up to date during each stage of the process.
The chip is now happily purring away at 4.7GHz OC and reaching max temps of 63c under full load with an h100i cooler.
