So I'm using an aorus 1080ti with intake fans directly below it (the stock 120mm case fans). Because its a 2.5 slot card its pretty close to the fans. Since the case itself doesnt stand very tall bottom intake is not good at all so I raised it using some knobbies that are made for the bottom of chair legs, this actually works and looks decent and adds about 2cm more height, so now its pulling in more air.
Non gaming temps seem improved, mid to high 40s most of the time. light gaming (fifa) low 60s, demanding gaming (witcher 3) is where temps go to about 77. Seems a bit high to me as it never touched this with my old case.
I'm wondering if because the gap between the intake fans and gpu is very small that its maybe choking the gpu instead of cooling effectively. I plan to test without the intake fans as I never tried this since increasing the height. Any other suggestions?

Rest of the case is cooled by: front 2x 120mm, top exhaust through rad 2x 120mm

Pics to follow

Tiny gap between fans and gpu. Case is now higher than in the pic

I had the same experience with the inwin 101 case fans at the bottom was not helping to cool my gpu as i was hoping, then i got some ekwb vardar fans and it helped to force the air into the gpu dropping temps by i think 6C

You reckon the stock case fans aren't cutting it?

Also, have you tried a more aggressive (yet still fairly quiet) fan curve for the GPU?
It does have a custom curve, dont have the exact details right now but I have gradual increases according to temps, topping out at about 75% fan speed. At that speed it is audible, not loud, but If I go higher its noisy

Is the card overclocked? Either power, core or memory overclocks? A very simple solution to your problem is to run it at 95% power which should bring down temps, but not affect performance.

Yes that's what i reckon vardar fans have a lot of pressure. I used them in one of my cases that chocked of airflow a lot and they helped a lot

He does demonstrate the airflow with a piece of paper @ 9 mins

Stock clocks, I dont know how to oc in fact

Tested without the bottom fans, a whole 1 degree lower. Fair to say that the stock case fans are pretty useless. Additionally I think with 2 120mm fans in the front they don't feed the gpu at all because its basically below where the fans blow. I'll definitely be getting 2 higher power fans for the bottom intake.

I've also found the top glass to be very restrictive with exhausting air. Taking off the glass makes a huge difference, looks Dom like that though so I put it on and removed the dust filter. This shaved off another 1 degree.

Here are some pics of the raised feet I'm using, adds a decent amount of clearance. Not the best looking but does the job.

So new fans have been installed, I have 2x vardar evo 120mm below the gpu, and 2x vardar f3 on the radiator (cpu temps have not been great lately but I think its because of the thermal paste). Gpu temps dropped by about 3-4 degrees into the low 70s, this is on a fairly quiet 800rpm on the bottom fans. For some reason I still believe the fans are too close to the gpu to cool it effectively. I've ordered some 140mm arctic fans for the front of the case and a pair of 80mms for the rear, theres no mounts but i've seen mounted onto the grill, should exhaust the gpu heat nicely and maybe help the cpu.

But now I'm thinking of going for an air cooler on the cpu, specifically this . Would a cooler like that be a good/bad idea in this case? The upcoming 140mm fans would basically only feed the cpu

personally would, if could, stick with one that can exhaust the air to the back already

Best way to reduce that temp significantly would be with some sort of watercooling.
You dont have much clearance down there. Stock coolers don't see to great either.

I had only 5mm clearance on my 1080 G1 in my ITX case. Temps were up to 70's.
Strapped a kraken G10 and a CPU cooler on it. Pushed temps down to 49 - 52 degrees and it was VERY quiet because its just an AIO pump. This way you also get to apply better thermal paste.

Obviously you have to be comfortable with this method

If it was an evga gpu then I'd be open to water cooling it, but for this gigabyte I have to keep the warranty intact for resell at some point. Honestly though the temps aren't bad, low 70s with a non aggressive fan curve after all this fan upgrading, I can live with that. In my opinion though this case is not really suited for these beefy cards, a normal 2 slot card would be better, founders would be best. For my next gpu upgrade I'll probably go for 1 with an aio or an evga

You can take fans off as long as you replace them. Iv RMA'd a card where the fan was removed and then put back. If there is a warranty seal sticker they have to prove that removing the fans damaged the cards. If they can't then u get ur RMA.
Just phone the distributor first to double check with them. Mine was with pinnicle
To be honest I wouldn't subject my personal card to over 60 degrees. But that's my preference

well the Kraken G10 doesn't fit his card since it's not a reference design card

yep

what is the height limit in this case?

have you had a reference cooled GPU in there yet?

Listed as 150mm, so basically only the smaller entry level sort of towers would fit, not 1 of those monster noctuas which is what I would prefer
