Acer Predator Triton 300 SE - broken charging rail

A mate of mine has the laptop stated above. I am attempting to help him get it sorted and thought I would turn to the Carbonite community to see if anyone has had a similar issue or knows of any experienced and reasonably priced technicians. It seems Acer support in this country is somewhat scarce and it would be difficult to get the laptop in for these sort of repairs, considering that it is out of warranty. But it is still a hell of a machine and would be a shame if it is not possible to use it for what it was made for.

After loading into a video game ("activating" the NVDIA graphics card), the charging light (orange) and the display light (blue) start flashing and then the laptop shuts down with the orange light still flashing. I am then able to hold the power button down to stop the orange charging light from flashing and then I can reboot the laptop and it functions fine again (until I open up a video game and the same issue repeats).

I bought a new battery and charger to try and solve this issue, but unfortunately it still persists. The only possibility left is that the the battery is not being charged properly due to my laptop having a faulty power/charging rail. This makes sense, as the issue began shortly after a power surge occurred while my laptop was plugged in.

I've been told to try and find an experienced technician to try and fix the faulty charging rail, and was wondering if anybody could assist with this or knows of somebody who can?

Thanks!

What are the amps of the new charger that you have because it must be at least 9amps for this model ?
As far as I understand it is an OEM replacement for the laptop, so should be correct power rating. I have actually found a place in JHB that does mainboard repairs, seem to be extremely competent. Called PC Techies. I am fairly certain it is a power circuit problem on the board itself, but we will see, hopefully its not the GPU.
