Hi,

I'm planning on building a mostly new rig for myself and just looking for advice from folks who know way more than me on where I can improve on parts for mostly the same price. Here is my proposed build. All the storage and also the PSU are from my old build. I'm planning on playing mostly Dota 2 and also AAA titles at 1440p and am trying to get as much longevity from my build as possible. I'm still debating between the 4070ti and the 7900xt (mostly concerned whether or not 12gb of vram is gonna be enough for 5 years when I eventually upgrade again and also weighing up dlss vs fsr). Also going to be using 2 monitors simultaneously if that makes a difference for anything, I enjoy having twitch/youtube play on the side while I game. The side monitor is 1080p.

Thank you so much!

That's pretty much my PC, just with a different CPU and cooler.

7900XT should last longer in terms of VRAM capacity, though DLSS/FSR do help to mitigate the issues. As it stands, I have no issues paying anything at max settings at 1440p. In 5 years time that won't be true anymore, but I think either the 4070Ti or 7900XT will still be solid then.

That's great thank you so much. Just one question: Are you able to play at max settings with 100+fps for most games? Just wondering what I should expect when I finish my build.

I've mostly been playing Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3 and some Tarkov, so it's tough to say. But those games all average well above 100FPS, though there are dips and neither of them massively optimized.

I'm also not using DLSS all that much. I'm using it in Starfield because you pretty much have to, the game needs work.

If you have a G-Sync or Adaptive Sync monitor, the higher frame rate is nice but less of a must-have. If you're playing competitive FPS, you will be getting massive frames and won't be running max settings anyway.

If you can, a GPU upgrade is always a good option, but I wouldn't say it's necessary. It's also been a bit since I've checked benchmarks so I don't recall the difference between the 7900XT and 4070Ti - something you'll have to check.

Or, you can tell me what games you play. If I have any of them, I can check FPS for you.

FSR3/AMD extra frames seems to be really great as well. I'd be leaning towards the 7900XT myself because not too keen on RayTracing and more Vram.

Otherwise great build

Nah thats bot necessary thank you for the offer. I've been spamming Balders Gate 3 as well and was planning on playing CP2077 and some other games I've been putting off. Thank you so much for all your help!

Yeah I've been so indecisive between the two. I know the 7900xt has better raster performance. Just concerned about driver issues and also a bit worried the fsr was super optimised for those two games it released for and won't work as well on other games. I have plenty of time to decide though so we'll see. Only planning on buying everything in November. Thank you!

Oh just a heads up, AFMF (I think that's what it's called) has a driver level on switch that people have been using in all sorts of games bur yeah another month to hang on won't hurt.
