Hi guys, I need to choose an ISP. I go through Vumatel and these are my options. Since there are a lot, which one is the one I should go for and which ones to stay far clear from. I wanted to do a poll but a bit of a noob on this and probably to many options.

1. Cool Ideas, been with them since I got fibre (2018) and zero issues to date

Avoid Cell C and Vodacom like the plague
 
Just not Super Sonic, the only way I could cancel was by posting a bad review on Hello Peter.
Then they wouldn't release my line, in the end had to go back to them as I needed internet.
 
Been on Vumatel and Vox since 2017, all issues were resolved quickly and when repairs were planned to infrastructure we received an email warning about possible slow speeds/outages.

I have literally just been able to cancel with them and they keep warning me about this cancellation fee that nobody has been able to calculate for me. I just have to accept the price tag when my line needs to be released. Such a garbage ISP.

Wirulink here. They answer their phones if you EVER have to call them. 50/50 is R859pm
 
I'm level7 open serve, previously was with them on vuma, their support was good initially and then I don't know because I've never had a reason to call them again 🙃

I don't think we had any outages on vuma, but we've just had our first on open serve this morning
 
I've been with Cool Ideas, HomeConnent and I'm now with Level 7.
Both Cool ideas and Homeconnect started brilliantly, Epic service, epic support. Around a year each then they started being useless and giving me crappy excuses like "We don't have international servers".

Level 7's support isn't super amazing but they have sorted out the few issues I have had.
Their performance has been solid so far, Been with them about 2 years now.
 
Iv been with Vox for years, super quick to fix any issues and pretty friendly.

I've had the worst experience with WebAfrica with an LTE line, wouldn't recommend them for anything. But i guess it was just my own bad experience with them.

Vox , They are great with Comms , call center is fairly helpful and jacked up from my experience . Also depending on package you choose you get VOBI which is like a VOIP on your mobile , great when travelling international .

Avoid Cell C and Vodacom like the plague
Sorry to sidebar, but why avoid Vodacom? I've been using them from last year and had nothing but rock solid connection and no hassles.
I am on metrofibre though, is it Vodacom in general or Vodacom with Vuma?

Vodacom is just a scummy company in general. Some Indian lady phones me from their head office , offers some deal, I say no thank you. Next day I get a text saying my upgrade is now processing, that lady just upgraded me and threw in phone insurance and some death cover also.

Countless hours trying to fix that problem, they didn't even wanna believe me at first. Scum lady. Scum company.

So far I wouldn't recommend them. Just recently switched from Rocketnet to them. I have the 100/100 and only get up to 60mbps on my wifi. Will get a cable soon to test if it's the WIFI or their package.

Rocketnet is ok, but overpriced. Also didn't like that I had to pay for everything, unlike CI that contribute, or Mweb, etc. Overall 7/10 for them, if they covered my connection or install fee, etc. I would give them 9/10

We have been with them since 2015 from the Fat Pipe Days.

Running a 100/100 and 99% uptime.

We had an outage a year or so again where a pipe burst outside our home and the workers damaged the fibre line. We logged the issue at 23:00 late at night and 08:00 the next morning a technician was busy sorting the issue. We were up and running at 09:00 again.

Not the tedious process of Helkom whereby you log a ticket and hope a technician gets back to you in like a month's time.

I'm with WonderNet. - owned by Seacom?. Have had zero downtime/issues since I joined in March last year.
 
From personal experience, I recommend Home Connect. They have very good customer service (when you call customer support, the technicians actually know what they're talking about).

When I finally cancelled my internet with SuperSonic (which took 3 months to do), Home Connect swapped me to their fibre a month early, free of charge. It's definitely not the cheapest fibre out there, but the extra couple but are definitely worth the good customer service and very steady line speed.
 
Webafrica charges the most for their 100mbps, had to go through retention dept so they can match the price of other isp
Also their support chat is clogged up so it takes about 20min - hour to get to a agent.
 
Go to Mind the speed website & select the area that you are living in & check the pricing for the package that you choose (depends on the Layer 2 FNO's) & then compare with other ISP's.

TBH - The support that you get with MTS is very very good

VOX are an awesome ISP - used them at 3 different places i've stayed on Fibre and the only time i've had issues has been fibre network related not ISP.

Thanks for the recommendations all. I went with VOX and I’m pretty happy so far in their communication and quick responses and sms notifications how far my set up is going.
 
And I agree supersonic is terrible. So is Rain btw. Afrihost so so. Let’s try VOX.
