Hey tech vets.

Looking to upgrade my system, and need a new motherboard, cpu, ram and cooler.

Old system was a i9 9900k, with 32gb ddr4 RAM on an ASRock b360pro4 board.

Preferably intel and ddr5. For the new one.

This system would be used for editing/gaming mostly. Budget is around 18k but can push to 20k. Since I already have a gpu, psu, case, storage etc.

Was thinking maybe the evetech i9/i7 upgrade kits but the motherboards seem to be a bit iffy. Plus then I'd need to get a cooler seperately anyway.

So what do yall recommend and from where?

Stay away from Evetech. Have a look at Progenix and Wootware.

I made the jump from 9900K/32Gb DDR4-3200 to 13700K/32Gb DDR5-6400/AORUS Z790 Elite AX Wifi/Corsair H150i and was impressed.
The 13700k is hot though, had to undervolt it to get temperatures to where I like them. These things would regularly hit 90s when doing intensive work, even now it would hit high 70s/low 80s with all cores stressed.

That being said, the new 14th gen is coming out with 4 more e-cores on the i7 which could be useful for editing. Might be slightly more expensive with the current R/$ though which would push it out of your budget, and the heat is even more, but just thought I'd mention it.

Much obliged, I reckon it might just be better to save a bit more and really get my moneys worth. I appreciate the advice!

That's still a really solid gaming CPU and you'd be hard pressed to see a major difference between it and even a DDR5/Core i7 replacement.

As Mr. Ryda said, stay away from Evetech.

What games do you play and at what res?

You could just put a new GPU in and probably be happy with the result. 6950XT/7900XTX/7900XT/6900XT/3090 would all give you just about 4K gaming and amazing 1440P gaming.

Look here for a recent review of GPUs
