Hi guys, so I'm looking to replace my broken Ultragear 144hz monitor.
I'm looking for a 24 inch, 144hz IPS panel monitor and I've narrowed it down to 3 options:
LG Ultragear 24GN600 24" - Has all the features I need including Freesync Premium

AOC 24G2SP 24" - 165hz refresh rate, IPS panel, G-Sync Compatible

Samsung Odyssey G3 - 165hz, VA panel, Freesync Premium, cheaper than both above

The AOC seems better, however it's G-Sync Compatible - will this work with Freesync and 6700xt? Also is AOC as reliable as LG Ultragear?

The Samsung G3 is cheaper than both, but is a VA panel, I don't want to sacrifice picture quality for a cheaper price. Is the difference that polarizing?

I'm sure you've figured out I'm getting these from Eviltech.
Also fyi, I dropped my monitor one month after buying it.

Is the screen mostly for gaming? I assume so because of the 144hz requirement.

Is it FPS games? Then I'd stay away from a VA panel due to ghosting.

G-Sync afaik is not "open source" like Freesync, therefore is only compatible with Nvidia cards. Therefore all in all, you should get the LG.

Don't quote me on the G-Sync/Freesync part, that is what I understand from the hardware.

Correct me if i am wrong but i think the AOC monitor supports freesync too, at least according to amazon it does.

I have the gen 1 model of the AOC and even though it is VA i have no complaints, was looking into the Gen 2 model for a long time but decided to go for a 1440p DELL instead for my next upgrade.

Personally though i just stay away from Samsung Monitors, the G6 i had at the office damn near ruined my eyes for the short while i had it.

Mostly for gaming, although with a full HD panel I'd also watch some 1080p YouTube.

I play rpg & strategy (rdr2, total war, elden ring currently). Is there a noticable difference in picture quality between VA & IPS?

If you are playing games like path of exile then go for the ips.

va panels generally have shitty smearing that makes reading moving text annoying.

Va panels in general also have very shit grey to grey transition periods.

I owned the 24g2 and to me that response time was stunning. Im unsure of the variants you are looking at though..

Ultimately if you can try before you buy you are better off..

IPS in general is a better quality panel compared to VA and TN, although at the same price point, this MIGHT not be the case, I'd still wager it is better, though.

In general for picture quality it is TN < VA < IPS, VA is like the jack of all trades, master of none. Your games don't look constrast-y (Except Elden Ring), which is the only category that VA shines in.

My MHz requirements are different but this is the one I keep considering:

I play mainly Fallout76 so don't need a blazing refresh rate. I have a 27" Dell 1080p and the biggest issue I find is that it is pushing it having that max Res with that size screen.

I agree with the VA, I have a Samsung Odyssey with a VA panel and the ghosting sucks. Go TN or IPS

I currently own the AOC option, it really is a fantastic monitor. I'm running it with a rtx 3070. It is a free sync monitor which means it will work with an AMD card as well. Gsync compatible just means it will work with newer nvidia cards without having the actual module installed. If i recall correctly anything after the 20 series works but it doesn't have the actual gsync module in the monitor which pushes costs up significantly.
