I'm pretty new to building pc's, in the past I'd just buy ready built systems from Dell or Lenovo.
Anyway baptism by fire, I am now learning how upgrading one part has a knock effect when the new part won't play nicely with the old parts, new gfx card means new power supply, new cooler means new case....

I have a 3950X cpu and I want to get a decent cooler for it so I can run it near full CPU usage for extendeded periods without temps going over 75deg.

Seems a Noctua NH-D15 or Phanteks PH-TC14PE cooler will do the job but what a minefield, the cooler may fit my case but then ram clearance is an issue so you can slide the CPU fan up to give space for the ram and then the cooler won't fit in the case any more 😠😥
Apparently the cooler can potentially also block your pcie gfx slot.

I have a MSI X470 board, 3950X cpu, GTX 1070ti, low profile Corsair LPX vengeance ram in dimm one and G.Skill Ripjaws V in dimm 2 which is not low profile but as far as I can make out it won't be in the way so it doesn't matter. The case is an Evetech Ares which can fit a CPU Cooler Height of 165 (mm), maybe up to 170mm going by my measurements.
Seems the Noctua may just squeeze in but with the Phantek it seems like there is no chance.

Is getting a new case the only option I have and if so what are the options?
I'm not worried about looks so the cheapest decent case with good ventilation and space for everything is fine.
If anyone has something to sell that will work let me know!
