Hi,

I know this is very broad, but I am looking for advice or perhaps a few recommendations for a new gaming laptop.
Ballpark budget approx. R25 000. Absolute maximum R30 000.
Screen size 15.6.

I mainly play strategy games and RPGs (E.g. Civilization, Xcom, Witcher, Fallout, Skyrim).
Not at all into FPS.

I currently have a Acer Predator (intel Core i5, with a GTX 970m) which I bought a few years ago. Its starting to show its age now, so need to replace it. Spilling coffee on it about a year ago didn't help.
Its also quite heavy as its a 17inch so looking for something smaller this time round.

I can probably get away with something less than R30k for my gaming needs, but I am not someone that will buy a new laptop every 2nd or 3rd year.
Hence the higher budget as I want something that will still be decent for the next 3 years or more.

There are just so many options and I am out of my depth. So would appreciate recommendations from resellers on the forum and hopefully narrow down the 100s of choices to just a few and I can take it from there.
I am definitely open to purchasing from someone on the forum. It must be brand new though.

acer nitro 5 and wootbooks

@XtaCy696 | CGSATech is good with pricing on the acer nitro lappies . in teh 22-25k bracket you can get an AMD or intel with 3060 rtx gpu. decide if you want a 15.6 or 17 in screen

this was at woot at 21999 a week or so ago:

contact wootware and ask what they have, they seem out of stock. check bf releases maybe they are holding back on stock

I can’t seem to find stock in Woot for their woot books actually. I was also looking.

The best gaming laptop is a regular laptop and a new gen gaming console.
Can't disagree there.
Fortunately I already have a xbox series S (will upgrade to X when it makes sense based on the games I play)
I've always had both a console + "Mid to High Tier' Gaming Laptop. The latter now needs a refresh.

I get it. I just think gaming laptops are idiotic.

I own one and it’s a heap of hot shit.

Get a MacBook M1 and mobile game on a Nintendo Switch.
