Hey guys,

I’m looking at buying my uncles VW Polo TSI with about 90k miles. Is this a good choice? I’ve heard varying things about polos reliability. The car has a full service history, it’s primarily been driven on suburban roads, and I’m very sure no one has driven it aggressively. It also is fully specced out, has all the additional extras.

My uncle would also let me know if there were any issues with the car.

Car wise, they are decent enough.

Insurance though, they are a bitch, these vehicles are flagged as high risk (stealing & hijacking).

A better way of thinking about it is that what you have might be a good car. Also, your uncle might not know it has problems.

I'd want to have it checked out first, also know what major services are upcoming or needed. Also tyres, shocks, brakes, clutch etc.

Miles or km. Makes a big difference.

Also what year model?

I've had my 2016 Polo TSI for just over three years now, also currently on 90K ( I got it on 71k).

Other then regular servicing, never hada days problem with anything. Servicing is cheap as chips ( regular R999 specials).

Great thing is I bought it for R181k and car sites offering me R160 and up. They hold their value very well the older Polos in my opinion.
