Just to make sure, would anyone be interested in sort of parasitic cable that is is plugged into their motherboard's power on led pin and then has the same pins on a board that you actually plug the led into and then fades the led? Sort of like a extension cable, but adds the fading feature...
Can you please go elaborate? Are these normal two pin single colour diodes? What connectors are you using? Or are these some crazy russian nixie tubes?
I will either use a cheaper alternative chip such as the pl2303 or even better would be to have good avr microcontroller running V-USB, that way there is no extra communication chip required.
