The Sims 2 PC support was canned a few weeks back and EA elected to upgrade everybody’s copy of The Sims 2 up to The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, which includes the original game and every single one of its expansion packs.
But, a few users encountered a few problems when trying to register their disc copies on the Origin store, so EA has instead elected to give everyone a free copy of the game and its countless expansions and ‘stuff’ packs…
You're probably best off grabbing the deal quick before EA sees the error of its ways.
The offer was presumably originally aimed at The Sims 2 owners only, with the Origin Store help page carrying the updated message; "
Because you’re a passionate The Sims 2 player, we’re making The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection available free of charge to download to your Origin library."
Luckily the code given out works for everyone. So, to grab your totally free copy of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, load up the Origin client, log in with your details and select “Redeem Product Code” from the Origin menu. In the code section just copy and paste “I-LOVE-THE-SIMS” and voila, it’s yours to keep. I’ve just tried it on mine and it works a treat.
So that’s
Peggle,
Plants vs. Zombies,
Battlefield 3,
Dead Space and The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection free in recent months. What do you make of EA’s newfound generosity? Will you be firing up The Sims 2 for a game? Let us know!
