F1 2024

Perez is useless. Probably why Red Bull keep him. Hardly takes any points off Max. Any other F1 driver would probably have scored as many or more points last year in his car.
So they get the Constructors by default and Max hardly has to get out of 5th gear.
When your own teammate scores more than double your tally , you should be given the boot.
I must disagree here. I don't think any driver on the grid will be able to keep up to Max in die current Red Bull car. The car was developed and will be developed 100% with Max's driving style in mind. He is one of the few drivers on the grid that prefer a lose front end and the only one that prefers it to that extent.

If you put Max in the current Merc he will post worse times than Russel and Hamster over the entire season. Normally teams build a care that will somewhat suite both drivers but Red Bull said fuck it, Verstappen is our champ and fuck the number 2 driver. Verstappens points alone won the constructors championship for Red Bull.

Don't see how you disagreed? Of course no one was going to touch Max last year. The point is Perez was/is rubbish regardless of the setup of the Red Bull.
Put Norris, LeClerc, Hamilton, Russell, Alonso, Sainz in the 2nd Red Bull. I could go down most of the grid and they would have done a better job than Perez and scored more points

Maybe we will see Carlos back at RB but I guess Ricciardo will be first pick if they decide not to sign Checo should he not perform.
Doubt it , they'll have a hamilton/rosberg situation or atleast enough where sainz will make Max's life very difficult

I think they're much more happy with their current situation then they let on

I disagree that Perez was shit. I think he did pretty well for someone in a car that is 100% opposite of his driving stile. When he was with force india and had more say in his car setup, he had a stiff front end and lose rear which most drivers prefer and he did very well there.

Fair enough.
I'm using a bit of hyperbole naturally, but no way he is a better driver than any of the drivers mentioned above.
So in my opinion that makes him unfit to drive the best car on the grid.

100% agree

That is the complete opposite of what Max prefer's, Max prefers a pointy front end and loose rear so that the car can rotate quickly and straighten out corners. It's similar to Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikonnen, LeClerc also is somewhat similar though less extreme as well. The opposite of this style would be Vettel who preffered a very stable rear.

Reference: EXCLUSIVE: Verstappen setup quirk which allows Red Bull to make car even faster

Apologies, switched them around. But still proves the point that it is not a very common driving style.

It's also less of building the car to suit Max, and more of building the car to be as fast as humanly possible, which for various technical reasons ends up meaning a looser rear. Since Max prefers a looser rear it means Max does better in it than others.

Or so I have gathered from the pundits.

Being 0.6-0.8 faster than the rest (which includes his teammate) is just nuts. The car is special, the driver is too. It shows.

I think we'll be quite lucky if we don't get at least two more years of complete RB/Max domination.

Sainz will go to Audi (Sauber) in 2025. His family already has strong connections with the Audi name. His father, Carlos Sainz Snr, just won the Dakar rally with Audi. Audi now pulling out of Dakar to concentrate on F1. I am sure the Audi link has already been made and he will announce it as soon as it is set in stone. Ferrari knew it and made sure they get Hamilton before anyone else convinces him to leave Merc. Hamilton has said previously that he would love driving for Ferrari before his career ends, so no real surprise there.

I laugh Merc has a monster of a car this year and then Hamilton moves to a struggling Ferrari in 2025.

It is both good and bad for the sport at the same time.

Good:
The scratch for seconds, are the old guys as talented (still) as we all assume.

Bad:
The main entertainment of off-track, qualifying and the first 5 laps. The rest is boring.

Its the combo of the best car and maybe best driver at a point

Which takes away from the , like it did with Lewis

Max in 2017 could not win a championship even with car of today

How much could a 1/2 year contract be worth ? maybe for Lewis 80/90 million

I think he/Daimler and Wolf could spare 30 mil each for an extra WC

So who else is used to that driving style because clearly Checo is struggling with it unless it's a street circuit for some reason.

I doubt Leclerc and Norris are going to be headed to RB, so which of the other current grid would enjoy driving a car with oversteer? Would love to see someone challenge Max or at least be given a reasonable chance. It's all well and good saying he's the best but he's got a whole team working around him winning.

It's like saying Hamilton was the best, but IMO Rosberg proved that he can overcome more challenges in order to win, which in my books is far more impressive than winning for years almost every week, like Shumi, Vettel, Hamilton and Max.

Also we get to see in 2025 what Hamilton can do with a car that isn't tailored to him.

Was going to say that this is the way I understood things to be, also the reason LeClerc struggled with last years car, Carlos likes the car with a stable rear.
Charles drives it on the nose..
Danny Ric also struggled with the McLaren which we can say also enjoys a planted rear...

Would say Danny Ric would be the best to replace Perez in terms of driving style, but not sure if longer term that is a good move?

I'm not sure, but there is another alternative that we haven't considered yet:

2022 they didn't develop in the way he wanted and clearly there's merit because they were shit and when they tried to start catching up they suddenly started gaining performance.

But its still a catchup game and they're not doing 100% what he wants

I think ( my personal opinion ) Lewis has accepted that Max is taking over and figuers retiring at ferrari isn't the worts hing he can do while also saying he has driven for them in his career.

I think 2026 is his last year on the GRID

And I also think he's on the mount rushmore of F1 , along with Fangio , Shumacher and maybe Alonso

Hell no. Guys useless. Well its all relative of course but in the bottom half of F1 talent pool imo.
I agree with the bottom half thing

The thing about f1 is , that argument of anyone that's there is 1 in a billion is true

Lance fucken stroll .....as much as his dad is paying for his seat , he literally wiped the floor with Charles , Alex and George in various series in their Junior careers. Man can fucken drive ....even if he has the personality of a wet rag

So few spots in F1 so I would think if you got family influence, money or political clout you have a head start on everyone else. They all are talented of course, but I'm sure so many drivers get overlooked as they don't have those advantages. F1 is an elitist sport, so not surprising.

Oh, and the level of spicyness and the season hasn't even started yet

Hopefully the actual racing is actually closer this year

1000%

Once that Theo Pourchair ( something ) gets into a ferrari I rekon Max has real problems
