Audeze LCD 2.2 (Non-Fazor) for sale at avforums for R6250.
Might consider that over the Beyers.

Very, very different signatures there. T1 is all about exquisite detail, pin sharp staging and impeccable timing. PF is none of those but it's gotta lotta soul. Would make a great complimentary pair these two. If that's not an option you need to try them both before deciding.

Thanks for the info. Trying them both would be ideal, but will try to check a few reviews and get an idea if they would be a good fit for me

Can recommend someone on a budget to get hold of one of these. The X3.

Got it to feed the main TVs audio out into a set of active speakers. What a difference, and it can drive headphones at the same time which has come in handy.

Looking for a replacement cable for my HE-400i, any local suppliers? Or is international my only choice?

I'm sure Mr. G can sort you out

Can anyone recommend a pair of cans that can be used for both office, bedroom and tv? Doesn’t need to be closed, would actually prefer semi but open is fine. I’m a Phillips and sennet fan and maybe sony but mainly on the wireless side of things.

Don’t want Bluetooth as a have a BtR5 that I use with wired headphones. Have never had a set of hifimans, I see someone has?

I’m currently using either X2 or X3 it it’s becoming a mission, very tempted to but another X3 but want to maybe try something different.

1.5m Using Amphenol 6.3 mm jack and switchcraft 2.5 jacks on Mogami 2893 cable R1300, add R90 for shipping. Add R55 per additional metre.

Add R1500 (so R2800) to use Cardas awg24x4 with R1100 per metre for length variation.

He can indeed replace the cable as above, but seems the amazon route is much cheaper.

Thanks again!

Welcome to the other side of Audiophilia, sometimes the cable cost as much as the gear.

Review seems okay. Try to get other people involved.
Amazon has za15 - 15% off of purchase over 80$.
Reduce shipping fees and get some discounts and all that good stuff.
Thank you, will keep that code in mind when ordering. Might pick up the DT 990 Pro / X2HR along with the cable, unless there's another higher end set at a bargain price.

The X3 is $199. No hype means a bargain IMO

Has anyone tried the ES100 before?

Considering getting one via Amazon for a ghetto attempt at a wireless SHP9500 (once I can find a super-short good cable).

My one client ordered a 5m replacement/ upgrade custom Kimber Cable for his Sennheiser HD820's, headphone cables came out to R160k 🥲, so yes, cables can indeed cost more then the gear... he is running them with his Mcintosh MHA-150 headphone amp. Setup sounds mental.

His cable cost more than double my car's value

So I tried out a pair of DT990 pro 250 Ohms the other day and now i need one ..... I have a scarlet solo that i been using with my HD600 but ill need an amp to run the dt990s, any body got any suggestions

I'm keen on your comparison/opinion once you get a cheap amp. I've been running SHP9500s off my motherboard audio (Maximus IX Hero) and looking at moving to the Aorus B550I and one of the things I've been curious about is its audio performance. So yeah, would be interested in your thoughts once you've had time with the 58X. :)

I took delivery of my first DAC/Amp this morning; A Schiit Fulla 2. I've switched my 150ohm HD58x's (with the sponge removal mod) back & forth between my onboard sound and the little piece of Schiit all day, listening to everything from Dave Matthews to David Guetta to Led Zeppelin to Skrillex.

The onboard sound does surprisingly well with no discernible noise, even when my 1080 is working hard. The only flaw I've found so far is it loses control of the deep bass at higher volumes and any higher-end detail gets covered in mud.
Compared to the Fulla 2 it seems to have a very slight V-shaped profile with some surprising strength to drum beats at low volume and a sharpness to the high end that's crisp without ever being too harsh.

The Fulla 2 sounds a bit boring by comparison, especially at lower volume, but comes alive as you turn it up. While the on-board sound seems to change profile slightly as the volume rises, the Fulla keeps everything balanced and under control with the bass never ruining the show.

I'm guessing the flatter profile is down to how the respective DACs have been tuned, while the loss of control at higher volumes just being an outright amp strength thing?

Oh and @goldfritter, the Fool's Errand crackle is still there...

Zeos just had the GSP500 for breakfast. Hell of a burn-fest.

I always knew they were trash but it feels nice to be vindicated.

I've discovered the Elite Atlas's flaw. It's not a Spring and Summer headphone. With the way the weather currently is here in Durbs I can wear for it about 3 days then the pads starting annoying my ears and as soon as they've been off my head for a day they're going moldy and need a full clean. Rinse and repeat. No other headphone pad is affected quite this badly by our current nonsense weather, it's like the pad itself sweats as well in addition to whatever it's absorbing. On the shelf it goes for now.

And the hunt continues.

Howsit gents!

On the hunt for some open back headies. Sennheiser SA will only be able to get me new pads for my HD600 sometime next year it seems...

So in the meantime, any open back suggestions in the 5k range? I buy used. Open to any recommendations.

Also willing to go for HD650/HD6XX/HD58X if it comes down to that. Just don't want to spend my holidays with worn out pads...
