Hi all

As per title, what's the best thermal paste available in South Africa?

The Cooler Master MasterGel Pro and Maker look good.

The mastergel has by far the best price to performance.
@Fox22743
Can get it from the man above for a great price.
Edit: I am speaking as an impressed customer

This ^

You can spend a ton more than the Master Gel Maker and get only slightly better results - something you wouldn’t really be able to measure with home equipment.

Save your money, you don’t need the best, you want close to the best.

I concur. Best paste i have purchased thus far and you get it with a smile and a chat from the seller.

I have Hydronaut that I've only used once on my GPU die, repasting it next week to see what results I get, may end up repasting my CPU as well to see what results I get there just because.

Cooler Master MasterGel Maker has been my preferred thermal paste.

If you want the absolute best performance though, and you've researched the pros and cons, then consider Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut.

Cheapest = Toothpaste
Best bang for buck = Mastergel by far.

Running mastergel on my 2700x setup, and temps are quite a bit lower on water (5-7 degrees under idle and about 10-15 degrees under load) than the previous paste I used that was bought from same place, just R100 cheaper than mastergel.

But does the Mastergel make your CPU minty-fresh and cavity-free?

For me its Thermal Grizzly ( Kryonaut ) shit works like a machine thermal conductivity of 12,5 W/mk it works well for me and my uses

The problem is that it’s expensive, hard to get at times and Master Gel Maker Pro has a thermal conductivity of 11.5.

They are so close to the performance of each other that it really doesn’t matter for your average person who is using a reasonably good air cooler and not trying to break OC records.

Thanks all. I'm leaning towards the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. But only Rebel Tech stock it, and they're in Jo'burg. Courier is around R135 on top of the cost to Cape Town.

It's for a Dell G5 i7-9750H and RTX 2060. I want the best, and even a 1'C improvement would be worth it for me. I'll also start with undervolting the CPU, to make sure I definitely need new thermal paste versus stock.

Not going to go down the Conductonaut route based on what I've read. Not sure of the materials being used in the heatsinks, etc.

If you're buying Thermal Grizzly, @dRweEz's signature indicates he has discount coupons. Might be worth checking out?

I killed my EVGA 980ti with Conductonaut when a drop fell on the PCB. It performed well but it's not worth the hassle.

It was definitely worthwhile when I did CPU delids as a hobby - that saw massive gains.

Gel Maker Pro R100+
Thermal Conductivity 8 (W/m-K)

Master Gel Maker R179
Thermal Conductivity 11.5 (W/m-K)

Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut R139
Thermal Conductivity 11.8 (W/m-K)

Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut R169
Thermal Conductivity 12.5 (W/m-K)

Thermal Grizzly all the way. i recently bought 5 tubes of Hydronaught.
I'll never use any other brand.

I don't understand why everyone says its hard to get Thermal Grizzly and that its expensive in South Africa.
Rebel tech stock it and its always available on Thermal Grizzly with really cheap shipping to anywhere in ZA

It’s not hugely difficult per say but there have been times when I’ve need some and there was no stock at Rebeltech and Master Gel was basically everywhere.

The R130 delivery cost versus a 10 min drive to park at a mall is a big difference too. That basically adds a lot to the price.

Yes, Grizzly is better than CoolerMaster but only just and it doesn’t warrant a huge price difference.

Plus delivery for the Grizzly. That basically doubles the price (unless you order 5, which increases the price by the delivery fee divided by 5)

Also Hyronaut is R139 for 1g vs R179 CM Gel maker 4g....

So apples to apples for price
CM Maker 1g R44.75...

What are the actual temps you are getting on idle and full load?

Which mall sells MasterGel? I don't think I've seen it at my local Matrix.

And where do you get the 4g packs? I can only find 1.5mL packs on Rebel Tech. Unless 1.5mL = 4g...

FYI average delivery charge from Thermal Grizzly to durban, JHB, PTA cape town is R65 not R130

I’m very happy for that to be the price, I’m just saying that I’ve been in a pickle with a system rebuild and needed thermal paste that week.

Rebeltech had no stock, I called them, and Master Gel works fine. I prefer Grizzly’s products but I’d happily use CoolerMaster in a pinch.

The world isn’t going to end if you don’t use Grizzly.
