Hey!
So I have a house with a separate entrance at the back... but the router will be basically at the front of the main house, leaving a barely adequate signal for the separate entrance (especially for gaming, I imagine). The total length is about 50-60m, including cable gymnastics going up/down walls. It'll go from the router, up into the ceiling and breaking out on the outside lip of the roof; from there, the cable will go along a shaded (by plastic, if I recall, and no direct sunlight at any point) part until it gets to the separate entrance. I may or may not drill through the wall, but I'll figure that out if I need to do it.
My problem is that the Ultra LAN 100m Outdoor CAT5e cable (Takealot) is R629 for double the length I'll need, and the wording of the description suggests that I'll need to go through the trouble of stripping the shell and putting on the RJ45 connectors manually (not a big deal, but still annoying, especially since I'd need to buy like a 12-pack of them for R100 or something when I only need 2). My other alternative is to use 3 of my already-owned Cat5e 20m cables (bought from Wootware), with some female-to-female connector things for R39e... and a fair amount of DI-WHY-esque plastic/PVC/wood.
Is there a cheap way to make the standard Cat5e cables I already have more durable on the cheap? No direct sunlight, no heavy water (but assume a few drips here and there during winter months). Should I just suck up the Advice from people who've done this kind of thing would be appreciated.
