Still trying to figure out what special kind of drugs the guy who decided to name it the gtx1660ti smoked? What's worse is how he/she convinced a whole company to go with that name. This whole time I've been secretly hoping that the name was just a hoax and they would call it the gtx1160 or the gtx2060 but nooooooooo! Way to go Nvidia following the likes of Intel. On latest news Intel is creating GPUs to be released in 2020, I suspect they will be named the 432, 416 and 821...

Oeeeeh forgot to add, really exited for these GPUs BTW.

Yeah you're right. It'll be closed to 1070, it seems. Initial reports said 1080, but eh. Remember there will always be space for 2060 and 2070 - because the 1660 Ti doesn't have RTX or DLSS.
 
What is the point of this card though? Is it just supposed to be a cheap 1070?
 
I guess this would have the same performance as 2060 without raytracing & DLSS.

Yes, the 1660ti might be as fast as a 1070 for R5000 but I’m still stumped as to the pricing versus performance of the RTX range.

People are now saying that the 2060 is reasonable in price versus performance.

No, it’s fucking not - it should be far cheaper as it can’t use any of the RTX features and the ‘mid range cards’ cards of Nvidia were far cheaper than current pricing.

I think Nvidia are charging more for their cards because they can.

AMD can’t keep up so why bother dropping the price?

Hopefully, Nvidia’s sales continue to slump and they are forced to drop prices.
 
Nvidia aint dropping prices anytime soon just because amds new kid navi on the block lets get facts straight the green king is ruler of this GAME also the dollar has jumped over R14

Wootware will always be a winner with their palit brand pricing same thing with their galax range
 
And apparently amd has dropped the vega 56 price to the same as this gpu.....

Only downside is the two year warranty but apart from that having owned a Palit it was very good.

Also could be due to gddr6 being expensive atm as their is currently only one supplier not sure when Samsung is pushing out their gddr6 vram...

I dont see any issue with a 2 year warranty especially when wootware pushes containers of stock , the result of a percentage cards failing vs the majority that sells is massive

In todays time and age people look at price for those that can afford a brand they will buy it thats called brand loyalty fuck price , :) ...
 
Busy Techspots review of the 1660ti .. well
It sits Smack in the middle of a 1070 and 1070ti/Vega56 (Title depending)

Definitely faster than the 1070 tho.

Ugh, nVidia love invalidating their original launch runner-up card. Time and time and time again.
 
This may be a dumb question but I've never built a pc before, does the single fan version (like the Palit from wootware) have any significant performance differences to that of a dual fan?

Probably not. One big fan is better than two smaller fans is all. Links to both?

Go with the one with the biggest heatsink and go with the one that is cheapest.

Really, I’ve seen several reviews where the cheaper card out performed the higher end one.

I was debating between these two, 1 and 2 or a second hand 1070 because the extra 2GB ram would help with the simulations I need to run but I'm a bit worried about the warranty as I've read online that it would be void if the card was mined, is this true?

Good luck proving that something was used to mine with.

How are they going to tell? It’s not like there’s evidence on the card or anything.

Think of mining cards like using your car full time, all day and all night. What wares out fastest? It’ll be the tyres in the cars case and fans in the cards case.

People under and over volt their cards normally and run them ~3 hours a day which, in the long run, it’s probably the same as a mining card running a full speed for 3 or so months.

As long as it has enough warranty left over and especially if it was purchased shortly before the crash, you should be ok.

The 1660ti has better VRAM compression so it’ll probably work out the same as an 8gig VRAM card

Suppliers cant give you shit on warranty if the card was "mined" end of discussion all they doing is called their job to see if you did not physical break stuff which ofcourse would be deemed null void and move along
