Any Cayman drivers here?

I think a two seater speed box is the best option for what you want, I am however not the biggest fan of Porsche. I would however recommend one of these:

Have you owned any? Need to drive them to appreciate

I've owned 4 of them ... They absolutely amazing and the reason why they appreciate in value esp the GT models
Odin_ZA I've owned in a personal capacity quite a few cars. And I'm talking Ms, AMGs, RS Audi's etc ....Choosing the Porsche is a great option in your price bracket. Stick with it you won't be disappointed.

I've driven IN one, but that was a 911 GT3 so it's not really in the same league, I have however driven an SLK350 before hence why I proposed it. I hear you though and won't pass up the opportunity should I ever find myself behind the wheel of one

I quite like the looks of the Cayman and Cayman S. The newer Cayman S shape is glorious to look at, and despite the 4 cylinder engine with added turbo, it's definitely a car that I would look at getting in the future :p

However, for now, I'll settle on eventually getting an E92 M3 in Manual

Other cars I would personally look at in that price bracket

M235i (m240i if you can stretch a little bit more)
A45 ... Wasn't my cup of tea when I owned one (but others love them)
C63 old school shape (not my cup of tea)
M3 e92 competition

Edit: if not the porsche get the m235i or m240i

adamr what do you currently drive, and in the same breath please take me for a spin.

I would recommend the RS5, but that's just from an Audi fanboy perspective:)
No experience with ever owning a Porsche, but I do have an S3; so I can assure you that the Audi will most definitely be superior :)

On a serious note, I think the Cayman is a seriously good looking car, I would say it is as much of a head turner as the RS5. In your price range they will be out of plan, and I can't comment on the Porsche; but maintenance could be a potential money pit on the Audi if something were to break.

If you're considering a 987, rather save up a bit more and consider a vanilla 997.1 or .2 C2S: a Beetle, er, 911 crammed full of rear-wheel drive goodness courtesy of a 3.8 flat-six. The 987 has at most a 3.4 which makes more-or-less the same power as 3.6 unit used in the poverty-spec C2. A C2S will also be infinitely more valuable than a 987 in the years to come.

+1 Good advice ... I'd take a 2005 997.1 Carrera s over a Cayman any day. I would save up and do this

🤣 ...I have nine exhaust pipes in my garage right now ... Spread across three cars ... 11 doors amongst them

If through a dealer yea. This is an appreciating car ... For about r600-650k you could find a 997 . But guaranteed they going to rise in value

Well if I buy a Porsche it's going to be through a dealer

BMW M140/M240i for sure.

Got a 1 year old M140 for R550k in December, best car for the money in this bracket by a country mile!

(If you're looking for an all rounder that's f-ing fast, very comfortable and if you're just cruising, relatively light on fuel)

Waht teh fuck are you talking about? I can't keep up with the damn model variation. They all look the same too so why the model change?

The Cayman is a great car and often loved by purists who want an entry level Porche.
I'd take one over the Subaru any day and the only other car I'd possibly look at is a well sorted E46 M3 but those are rare these days. Too many people mangle their E46.

If you do buy an E92 M3 just budget about 30k for a bearing change. If it hasn't been done yet then get peace of mind and have it done yourself.

adamr found something I'm going to try and stretch the budget for.

At that price I can wait a few months longer if I can find another one in the same price range by that time

Clicky for pure sexyness
