So for the next round of load shedding starting today….
I’ve got a PD power brick/bank to charge a Macbook Air via USB-C but it doesn’t charge the laptop, the lappy charges the brick.
Do I need to activate the brick first by doing a full discharge then recharge or is the brick just not able to support the charging requirements? / other ?
‘PD-rated’ bricks are able to charge a laptop.
From videos a MBA or MBP will either use the brick as a power source but not charge the battery or will start charging after a few moments.
What happens when connected within 5 seconds:
It has a display indicator to show if it is charging and what the power draw is.
At max can charge at 18W.
The brick and specifications:
Features :
- 60000mAh High-capacity
- 18W PD3.0+QC3.0 Two Way Quick Charge
- Huawei SCP 22.5W Super Fast Charge
- Three Inputs & Four Outputs
- High-Quality Battery Cells
- Large Digital LED Display
Brick Specifications :
- Capacity: 60000mAh (222Wh)
- Input:
5V-2A or 9V-2A (Micro USB)
5V-3A or 9V-2A (Type-C)
5V-2A or 9V-2A (Lightning)

Others have successfully used an 18W PD charger for charging: Post in thread '18w usb-c power adapter with macbook air 2020'
I’ve tried setting the battery and charging mode both to low power for usage and power draw.
