Hi, I'm really a noob at the whole pc gaming space. I've have had the Lenovo legion 5 Rtx 2060 gaming laptop for the last 3 years and it's served me well, I recently purchased a 1440p monitor and it seems to struggle with 1440p gaming. I want to buy the prebuilt Rtx 4060 from evetech but I wanted to know if it's worth it ? Thanks

Stay away from Evetech.

The 4060 is not a good 1440p card. Barely faster than the 3060 and with less VRAM.

Thanks for the reply, is evetech that bad? I bought my gaming laptop from them and had no issues. If I stick with my gaming laptop, how many more years do you think it will last me ?

That's the problem with evetech in general, if you do get problems they will either blame you for the issues, ignore you, or stall you for so long that you will be frustrated and choose to stop contacting them. End result is your issue doesn't get fixed. Don't bother waving around the cpa or whatever warranty or law, it looks good on paper but doesn't work.

AHH I see, is there an alternative that sells prebuilts ?

Go to the wootware website and pick pc parts with their pc builder tool and then have them build it for you,

Or just send them an email with your budget and what you have in mind with what you want.

Thanks man, really appreciate it. What is an ideal budget for a 1440p system?

Another site that sells prebuilts is Progenix: Progenix - For All Your Computing Needs

If you're not sure what to budget, email Progenix, I've bought from them a bunch of times and the owner is not someone who will upsell you in order to make a quick buck - he will give accurate and reasonable advice.

At 1440p you probably want to take a look around these ranges:

But like I said, if you're not sure, email Progenix, their advice will be good.

I second Progenix, great store with good prices and the best service amongst the SA retailers.

Depending on your budget, a 7900 GRE might even be viable. They're not much more than 7800 XTs (cheaper than some, in fact).

You really don't want an RTX 4060. There are a good number of cases where it's actually slower than the RTX 3060. You can think of it as an RTX 4050 with incorrect branding.

As for the rest of your question...

Considering a PC gets tested once assembled, how does it pass testing without RAM?

Then don't forget swapping out components, often for cheaper components, without notifying the customer.

Or the former technician who came out publicly and said that management instructed them to physically damage returns so that credits wouldn't have to be passed, etc.

My best form of advertising is them fulfilling orders.

  • Customer mails asking for a price match
  • Whether it's off by 0.1% or 30%, no, it's against policy
  • Customer doesn't reply
  • 3 months later customer replies with one of the following:
    • Finally got a refund after 3 months, ready to purchase at full price
    • Still battling to get a refund, ready to purchase at full price
    • Written off the money, ready to purchase at full price

Or any of the endless controversies and scandals?

Or any of the seemingly ENDLESS threads about issues, right here on Carb.

Or the fact that they're banned from Carbonite for scummy behaviour?

Na, I think you'll be fine

Ya so long as game support DLSS v3, just gooi dlss performance and let the AI frames do the work.

But no 4060 aint great for 1440p

The problem with this approach is Frame Gen needs a certain number of frames to work well. So it works best on higher-end cards where it isn't really needed.
