I bought this on special, mostly due to curiosity since I loved Mechwarrior back in the day and enjoy the story setting.
In a nutshell, it's turn-based (which I normally immensely dislike) and has some similarities to XCOM2. Also it's pretty complex, with a running economy, pilot skill trees and mech customisation to be tweaked ad nauseum. All of this before getting stuck into the various mission types, basically where your lance blows other mechs, vehicles and buildings up.
F/fwd a month and 150hrs of gameplay later and it's safe to say I'm hooked! There are some niggles, but the fun experience outweighs those by an ER Laser shot
