MI 9 EU Piano Black @ R9999

Now officially available in SA through Xiaomi's Distributor for Africa, MIA. Only in one colour though.

Seems that the Mi 9 compared to the K20 Pro indicates minute differences in the specs barring the battery capacity and pop up camera.

Mi9 vs K20 Pro

K20 pro has a bigger battery - Mi 9 seems to have a better camera overall. Will be interesting to see how the prices compare for two very similar devices with minute differences in certain areas.

both are incredible phones - i love the specs on both but to me the Mi 9T Pro aka K20 pro is the better bet because i want my phone to have a few audio enhancements and this phone is Hi-Res certified ie it can give you high res audio from the headphone jack output without needing any external additions like DAC/AMPs because of the Aqstic audio features inherent in the design of that phone

but either one is a great phone compared to other brands flagships (y)

The Mi9T is the K20 non-pro version...its been re-branded under the Mi Brand. K20 Pro an additional model that stands on its own currently and seems to be competing directly with the Mi 9 in my opinion. Mi 9T is also very decent specced device, no doubt...though, i would prefer the K20 Pro over the standard version personally

dude in the same way the K20 is the Mi9T - the K20 Pro is the Mi9T Pro rebranded - the K20 and K20 pro are called that in China while the global variants are going to be called the Mi9T and Mi9T pro just that the global version of the Mi9T pro hasn't been launched yet in Europe and Russia where its all due initially

the K20 moniker us going to be used exclusively in China and the snapdragon 855 version of the phone will be called the Mi9T pro in the areas that are going to receive the Mi9T with the snapdragon 730

K20 and pro is called that in india as it was launch on the 17th there as the countrys first 855 snapdragon based phone hence listing on flipkart and because Xiaomi has a plant to produce in volume gives rises to alot of job empowerment.

Yup...i see that now, my bad...though, i dont see the sense in launching a Mi9T pro when its very similar to Mi 9 with a few changes...would be very odd if they did do that. Saturating the MI 9 devices as you get a Mi9 SE and Explorer edition...now the T and T Pro...with the T models being cheaper (well in theory it should be) than the flagship model...

Either way, its an awesome device and definitely worth a look at. Its just a pity here MIA is very slow any getting anything here. The Pocofone F1 was supposed to be officially launched here and SA was listed as one of the countries to get it...but its no where to be found.

K20 and K20 pro in india will be the global variants as Google services and play store is not banned there.

the mix models internally used the same hardware as the other flagship models ie the Mix 3 uses the same hardware as the Mi9 and the Mix 2 used the same hardware as the Mi8 but they had different extrnal casings - so Xiaomi has been experimenting with releasing differing models of the same phone all over the show

the T models are not identical to the other flagships - especially with the pop up cameras - and Xiaomi are fully aware that the Redmi brand is considered the entry level so they still want to take advantage of the fact the Mi branding makes it seem like the product is more premium in certain markets

in the same way the CC9 is the Mi A3 (with the Mi A3 just using Android One instead of MIUI) and they are also currently being launched in different parts of the world

also in terms of features - the K20 styled devices still retain things like headphone jacks etc which you wont associate with flagships like the Mi9 which is meant to be more of an apple competitor

in terms of how slow MIA is in getting these things here you can get them quicker if you are prepared to pay a little extra via Miphones.co.za - or even less than official if you self import the variants that Gearbest and bangood and aliexpress are prepared to send here to you

Yeah, i hear you...only Xiaomi can do this and still be successful...

Though the CC9 and MI A3 are getting a lot of flack for coming in with a 720p screen...considering the previous iterations of the A series had Full HD displays.

I am guessing if they use the Mi 9 branding, then that drives the price up...The Redmi branding has been known to be their budget lineup. Currently the K20 Pro would be a true Flagship killer. Gonna be interesting to see how they are juggling this with the Pocophone Brand as well..as that was started to be their flagship killer Brand. Odds are, in a few months time when the price of the components drop, you will get a Poco F2 coming out which will end up being cheaper than the K20 Pro at launch.

i really would have wanted a Mi9 or even a (lets call it a) K20 pro ..... but because i have a Pocophone for now is good enough till i can get a Mi10 or even a M11 depending on how qucikly they release those from now - i think that the Pocophone can easily still serve me perfectly for another 2 years more

the official line currently regarding the Pocophone is that they don't have a plan for the Pocophone F2 ..... because the main difference in the Pocophone is the Poco launcher - they can modify the launcher for use with the K20 and K20 pro and call it any name they like but because the Poco name is associated with budget devices they cant really use the snapdragon 855 in an F2 until the 855 is no longer a premium chsipset and it becomes cheaper so the Poco F2 can be a budget busting model as well

I have a pocophone as well...amazing device for the price point as well. Was also interested in the Mi 9 or K20 Pro but that would be dependent on pricing ... if it comes at a bargain then it might come into play...otherwise...will wait patiently. At the rate the devices are being churned out...i wouldnt be surprised if the Mi10 was already in the works and released by the end of this year.

Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 Pro will have 3 rear cameras and no notch, for only $400/450 for bigger models india based pricing ....

Mi 10 will only happen when Qualcomm are working on a snapdragon 855 successor ...... havent heard any rumors about that yet ..... though to be honest it wouldnt be surprising given how many phones Xiaomi are currently releasing

might be worthwhile holding on till they perfect the underscreen/under display selfie camera so theres no notch and also no pop up selfie camera and a clean full screen..... thats what they are working on now (y)

@naughty Mi 9 T Pro (aka K20 Pro EU Version) has been announced to be released on August 20, 2019 in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg...and should be rest of Europe soon after that...hopefully pricing stays decent even though its taking the Mi Branding.

i reckon the pricing will be below the Mi9 and the Mi Mix series - pricing will be around the same as the K20 pro in India i reckon because its just a badge engineered model

i reckon though i'm still going to wait till they have a phone with no pop up cameras or notches ..... most likely an underscreen selfie camera which is an idea they are playing with - the next phone they are going to release will most likely have a 64mp camera and they are also experimenting with a 108mp camera - so over the next year or two they are going to release some crazy phones IMHO .... so i'm happy to play the waiting game till they have something that i can consider a real advance over my phone and not merely a speed bump

Mi9T Pro 128GB

Mi 9T Pro for sale in South Africa - nice price - absolutely the best phone in this price range IMHO

should be a fair amount less if you self import from Gearbest or Banggood or Aliexpress

but for almost half the price of an iphone XR a phone that is actually better than that XR by a fair margin ;)
