How come people are selling these cards for R6000 +/-

When I paid for a full i7 PC including Rx 580 8gb R5500

If a Rx580 is worth R6000 how much is my 1070 gaming x worth
GPU prices are insane at the moment due to stock shortage and crypto mining.

Since retails prices sky rocketed and stock is very limited, the second hand market was the second to be affected.

RX580 are going for R4000- ish the last time I check, but I saw GTX 1070 non ti sell last week for R6000+

1080ti you will be lucky to get under R9500

And everything RTX is more than retail

Isnt mid 2020 like 10 months ago ?
I was one of the lucky few who bought a card when the market was down (and I scored a 1080 for cheap cheap)
14 months from now
At least that's the rumor I heard, mid 2022 is when it should start normalizing again.

You mean 2021 bud. I very much doubt that though. It will only start normalizing if the crypto mining becomes less profitable or non profitable. Right now paying 6k for the 580 you can still get your ROI within 6 months. I don't think bitcoin is going to crash anytime soon, will definitely get stronger before the crash if the crash ever comes.

I remember this happening 2 years back, any idea when the market will stabilise?

Industry insiders are saying 2022 Q2.
Stock shortages of components --> supply line issue, with drought in Taiwan that could make this even worse.
Read from WSJ that even shipping containers are not synchronized and causing delays for even the simplest items like shoes, clothes etc.

I somehow think this may become the 'new norm' with manufactures 'running out of stock' in order to drive up prices past the point where selling yourself on the street corner for a month only covers the damn heatsink.

And with new console pricing being as high as it is people are collectively moving more so the pc's than before and as such creating an even bigger supply/demand in the 2nd hand market.

People enable the high pricing by continuing to buy at that high pricing point. I remember buying my 1080ti FE 2years ago when it was actually the opposite of guys wanting to sell off their 10 series gpus at seriously competitive prices and that was when it still had warranty left!

So all we can do now is watch people throw money at 4+ year old, probably mined with cards, and shake our heads 🤷‍♂️

PC gaming is dead - that’s all I’ve got. I love this industry but I don’t think I’m going to be re-purchasing a PC if I’m able to get overseas early next year. I don’t feel like games are as compelling anymore, and the cost of buying a high-end PC has become kinda ludicrous for anyone who doesn’t have a very good job/has been working for a while.

Yeah. So much hype, but at the end of the day people are still just watching YouTube on their 3090's. There is nothing worth getting excited about as of late.

Hopefully GTA VI will change that, if it is a game style you like.

You are correct most new games are not so good. But don't give up hope u don't need a high end PC to enjoy gaming. Their are plenty of old games that can keep u entertained for hours and the best part is you can even reply these games without getting board.

Try

* stalker 1 2 3 ( open world shooter 'rpg')
Also free fan made stalker games

* vampire bloodline 2004 ( rpg)

* gun 2004/ 2005

* lord of rings War at north

* James Bond night fire

* Risen

* resident evil 4

* just cause 2

* gta iv

* mass effect 1 2 3

* dragon age 1

* mad max

Emulator games worth playing
Ps2 midnight club 3 dub edition remix

Xbox 360 ps3 red dead redemption

I definitely get where you're coming from, and on occasion, I do play older titles that don't require much horsepower at all (I main CS:GO @ 1024x768 black bars), but part of the thrill of PC gaming to me is being able to boot up a new triple-A title and experience something unique and impressive. When I purchased an RTX 2080 in 2019 I was so excited to be able to burn through most titles, and playing Control with RT one was quite an experience because seeing how debris could be realistically path-traced was so cool. Another aspect of PC gaming I enjoy is just being able to save up and build the rig itself with modern hardware. For sure I could just keep my current GPU, or even save up a bit and upgrade to a 3080 to keep for many years while this thing subsides, but this feels like I'm being robbed of something I used to enjoy and I hate how this whole scene has been blackened by the pursuit of money.
