Wanting to check you guys's feeling on this one. My 3 year old Antec gold rated fully modular 750W PSU has a completely dead 12V rail (no power to the PCI connectors, poor GPU only getting minimal power from the mobo) so I'm replacing it. Do you guys think it is wortwhile fixing the dead PSU and keeping it as a backup in a test rig?

No longer under warranty?
No, unfortunately not. Three years old, can't find my invoice and topping it of, bought from those guys selling Tech in the Evening, if you know what I mean 😒. So after the way they destroyed the socket of a brand new Z170 board with a dead PCI e I purchased from them and returned a week later under warranty, I wouldn't expect much joy from them either...

My son's psu also just died, was about to ask the same question.

If a fuse blew maybe but at the end of the day are you willing to put your other pc components at the the risk of saving R700 odd.

Just get a new psu with warranty and no need to worry about blowing components. Im not saying a surge wont blow a new psu but if the psu still has a defect in it which you were unable to identifiy and you plug it in then goes poof xD

My thoughts too. New PSU heading my way from Wootware already. Was just wondering if I should chuck it in the dustbin or fix it and keep for a test rig. But I hear you
