Are any of the AWS certs worth perusing ? anything else? Im open to any suggestion.
Hi, this is dependable on your career path and where you want to end up. I was an avid Senior Network/Security engineer for on-prem and made the move to cloud, as I foresee it to become the future, this Coupled with my move to AWS, it soon became more beneficial to skill and get the relevant certifications.
In regards to Cisco related certs, my opinion, they are not targeting the heart of cloud yet, even though they have devnet streams.
My journey this far ->
On-Premises (Tier 2 Network Engineer / Senior Network Security Engineer / Networks Project Team )
CCNA, CCNA Security, CCNP R&S, Fortigate NSE 1-4, Palo Alto, Sophos, Extreme Switching, and few others.
Once I joined the cloud space, i jotted out my certification path, which is as follows (includes the current certifications I've passed):
AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Developer Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator Associate, AWS Security Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect Professional.
The nice thing about passing AWS related certificates is that upon passing you receive a 50% discount voucher and a free Practice Test Voucher, which can be used towards passing your next AWS related exams. I utilize the following for training/upskilling
1. Linux Academy
2. Acloud Guru
3. Whizzlabs
4. Qwiklabs
5. Aws Training, Whitepapers, Documents and FAQ's.
IE you should follow a certification path for your career path. If you looking at moving into cloud, Id suggest looking into AWS, Azure, and other cloud providers certifications. As, i've seen majority of customers are now hybrid cloud, IE utilize the best benefits of each provider.
If you require any assistance in regards to the AWS Cloud space let me know, always willing to help where I can
