Hi guys,

According to Core Temp and CPU-Z my CPU is running at a constant 4,2GHz. But when I open Task Manager (Performance tab) the CPU frequency is constantly changing as if Speed Step is enabled. It is disabled in the BIOS.
Observe Task Manager:

Now, Core Temp and CPU-Z:

What's going on here? Spread Spectrum is also disabled.

Is this normal? Help would be appreciated.

Cheers :)

Check if Power is set to Power Saving /High power.

I noticed after installing HWMonitor that occasionally a core will drop to half the frequency:

What is going on here?

Cheers :)

I would always get a different result from TM to all other monitoring software. With intel it would look like yours but now with AMD under load TM says my cpu goes up to 4,4ghz(its not) when its set to 4ghz.
I dont think windows TM is all that reliable

Maybe check if your Turbo setting is on for all 4 cores.

It is indeed with manual multiplier. If I stress test with P95 all of the cores run at max frequency (4.2 GHz) but TM only shows 4.08 GHz.

Cheers :)

That's the answer I was hoping for. All the other software used, CPU-Z, HWMonitor, Core Temp, all show 4.2GHz.

Cheers :)

Just wanted to throw in my 2cents here on TM;
On my (not that far OC)it showes it stable at 3.7

Thanks mate. But your CPU is a first gen i7, which is unlocked. Mine is a non-K 3rd gen 3770 and it has limited overclocking. Trying to figure out why Task Manager is showing Speed Step-like frequency variance while all other monitoring apps show a constant 4.2GHz.

Cheers :)
