I must admit, 1903 is much faster compared to older versions on normal HDD's. The fact that the search function is it's own feature now really gives the OS a nice responsive oomph ^^

If you have a laptop that is slow in windows, its probably the HDD. Swop it out for an SSD and it will be fast.
I was a hair trigger away from doing that, until I realized I could get a gaming laptop from the UK for the price of a medium spec one here.

The update is running smoothly on a friends PC but when I install it on my Asus laptop(Asus Scar II) it freaks out, I keep getting "not responding.." messages when opening browsers or even when trying to manage Windows itself. Best is when trying to open task manager to end a task that's not responding and task manager not responds for 2-3 min. I have no such issues with the 1809 version.

I had to roll back to 1803 as 1903 screwed up my sound drivers and programs crashing. Normal speakers works fine. Sound through 2.1 speakers were fine but couldn't get spatial sound to work on my 7.1 headphones which in turn broke dolby atmos. Chrome did some weird sh*t and pc just felt sluggish. So I just rolled back and will wait till all this is sorted

I can report that Don Bradman Cricket 17 still works fine. I have also not had any problems whatsoever with any update, ever.

I had those massive stutter freezes after the first Win10 update. And since 1803 updates have been refusing to install.

Superfetch (SysMain service) seems to be causing hard stutters on my end. Think I'll go back to LTSC and live off of security updates.

I'll have to sacrifice Windows MR though.

Fresh install. I'm starting to suspect that my HDD might be dying. I'll test when I get home.

Another Windows update thread

I've never understood why people have issues. I have a laptop, a NUC at work, a "downloader" NUC and a gaming PC at home. On all four I just leave them to do their update thing when they need to - never proactively try and get an update early.

At worst an update interrupts my day for 5 minutes and then it's business as usual. No performance issues, no disappearing files, no errors.
I explain it to clients like this - you can have 2 TOTALLY identical machines, with identical issues (lets say both won't print) , both having different causes and fix's. IE A car can get a flat tire from a piece of glass or from a nail. Still a flat tire that needs replacing, and can be replaced with different types of tires.

Clone, clone, clone & verify your clone before updating. Saves plenty of headaches. :)

I run 1 x 3rd Gen Acer laptop, 1 x 4th Gen MSI laptop and 1 x 4th Gen desktop. All are running smoothly after using Windows Update to get to v1903. I noticed a bit of a performance improvement as well. However I have to do a clean install on the desktop, since one of the previous Windows Updates messed up the system sounds, which I though updating to v1903 might rectify, but that didn't happen.
