Haven't really been following the issues around the update but i can tell you that i seem to have lost some gaming performance after the update. Might be a placebo but Im seeing frames I've never seen before in games i play very often.

This. Anything after the 2019 March uodate is shit. Just stick to the very specific Oct 2018 update for best performance. I still play all latest games no problem so people shouldnt start with "bUt UpDaTeS aRe ImPoRtAnT" shit.

Use Macrium reflect, do a hot clone and test the clone before updating. If the update causes kak, you have a fallback.

I had to roll back to the previous version after updating to 1903 because it broke my FPS in TOXIKK (AFPS game that I play a lot of) ...

New feature builds of windows should only be used on VM's, then after 2 months it should be freshly installed on daily PC's

If you enjoying using beta software go ahead xD

Otherwise wait 3months or so before updating unless there is some serious security flaw that is plugged in the new version.

Had a crap ton off issues on 1803 and 1809 with regards to it hating my gpu and and and.

Clean installed to 1903 and apart from start up time that's a wee bit slower everything else is really running smoothly, very happy indeed.

Oh yes forgot to add I'm also on a 4th gen system and so is my brother and only been smooth sailing.

I updated to 1903 recently on my laptop and desktop.

Both are 3rd gen. The desktop is fine, the laptop is slow AF.

Dual core with hyper-threading can’t cut the mustard any more. My new laptop is a 12 thread 8750H for that reason.

I might move my laptop to Linux though.

Another Windows update thread

I've never understood why people have issues. I have a laptop, a NUC at work, a "downloader" NUC and a gaming PC at home. On all four I just leave them to do their update thing when they need to - never proactively try and get an update early.

At worst an update interrupts my day for 5 minutes and then it's business as usual. No performance issues, no disappearing files, no errors.

Look, I’ve never had a bad experience with windows update but that doesn’t meant that people haven’t.

Microsoft themselves have issued multiple warnings with regards to their updates, the most infamous is when desktop files were lost.

I still have my files synchronized to Cloud so that’s not a concern to me.

In addition, my active hours are set to times when I’m not going to be behind the PC ie 3am.

The Windows 10 update delivery is a billion times better than the Windows XP delivery. Fuck me, XP updates drove me insane.

I thought that only hit the early adopters? Either way; true. Many people seem to have issues. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Preach! I can't help rolling my eyes when someone says something happened to their PC or laptop and they've "lost everything". There's just no excuse these days. All four of my computers, my tablet AND my phone could all disappear completely right now and I'd lose nothing...and I pay R100pm for cloud storage.

In addition, my active hours are set to times when I’m not going to be behind the PC ie 3am.
I tried using that setting a while back but it never seemed to work properly. Now I just let it happen when it happens and it never seems to happen at a particularly bad time.

The Windows 10 update delivery is a billion times better than the Windows XP delivery. Fuck me, XP updates drove me insane.
I remember sitting through a solid day of updates and (probably unnecessary) restarts whenever I did a clean install...which was often. WinXP was amazing and awful at the same time.

Eeeeeveryone should have a 100gb storage sub for photos and files like your will, CV and mortgage.

If you’re a student, sign up for the Alumni option at the end of your degree and you have a student account for life.

That gives you office 365 and 1tb of cloud storage for free, as long as you hold an active student account.

I’ve got both, 100gigs for my iPhones and the 1tb for the rest of my photos and windows files and 10 Pro key.

If you have a laptop that is slow in windows, its probably the HDD. Swop it out for an SSD and it will be fast.

Well I installed 1903 before release on MS insider. I was pleasantly surprised with some jumps in performance in 3d mark Fire strike... physics and combined score for a Ryzen 7 2700x with a Rtx 2080 ti.
