Just a show of hands as to which fund managers you trust your hard earned cash with?

Do you prefer your investments to be actively managed to try and beat the market and don't mind the extra fees (TER) or do you prefer a passive fund that just tracks an index with lower fees?
I am at the point where I am obsessing over TER fees as some of these actively managed funds take almost 2% off the top of your annual returns which is quite a lot as time goes by..

Any horror stories from certain companies to steer clear of?

How are your investments performing with the current global instability?
I'm so tempted to buy BTC right now but don't feel for the headache that is SARS when I decide to withdraw the revenue... and that shit you hafta do yourself or hire someone to do unlike a conventional fund manager company that does it for you

Easy Equities, Like the fact that I can do a TFSA and choose my own ETFs to buy. Just loading up on S&P500 and Nasdaq100 every month, also doing the same for our daughter.

Not really worried about performance at the moment as time in the market beats timing the market. So I don't even look at price, I just buy when I want and can, 30 years from now todays price will be irrelevant

I hear what you are saying but in my experience, the only way to beat inflation, the new world order and a crappy economy is to go with active management. I have been with the same asset manager for around 12 years and though I have eggs in other baskets, he's handled the bulk of my portfolio since my income was only 1\10 of what it is today and yes, since the end of last year the markets have not been kind, but the value of an asset matters less than the volume and growth of an asset which will determine its compuoned future value- and that's what makes an investment work.

I've been very lucky (perhaps more lucky than others) with my asset manager because this guy and his team stay on top of everything which I leave to them. None of my investments have ever performed below inflation (and though their fees are a bit high, if your investments don't grow, they don't get paid...) They also keep an eye on my policies as well and let me know when to move to save money/get a better deal.

Crypto is sitll the twilight zone of investing. In the last year, I've lost around 30% of $ value but then again, the amount of crypto I have stays the same. I'm hodling and even bying a bit more when I see downward spikes.

At the end of the day, diversity, risk and active contibution and mangament are what make you not live with your children when you retire. If I have to pay someone for that peace of mind, I'll gladly do it any day of the week.

Easy Equities

1) Large range of funds to choose from
2) Low fees, and I don't have to pay an advisor
3) I can contribute any amount, even R1

I have a balance between actively managed funds and EFTs.

EE, Sygnia, Kraken. EE for TFSA and USD accounts, Sygnia for retirement and Kraken for crypto. I stay away from a financial advisor or anyone who will "manage my portfolio", they are a waste of time and fuck you in the long run. Takes a day of research to figure out what to do, and then buy it monthly like a normal savings strategy, dont need to pay someone a % of your gains to do that for you.

My Grandfather has opened a unit trust in my name with Allan Gray since ~2005, it's been growing slowly but surely.
