My temp guage is over reading. Someone told me that it's an aftermarket part and that I need to add a resistor on the wire connecting to the sender. From my understanding is that if I increase the resistance, it will read even higher. Should I just buy a new sender? or could it be that the gauge is tired? I know for a fact that it is not running hot. BTW It's a mint 90 golf 2.

Just get a new sender. But I dont understand why its said to be aftermarket?

Replaced the sender yesterday. I have reason to believe that the gauge is just old as it did not make a difference. Considering installing the water temp oil pressure and battery voltage sensors in the center console for peace of mind.

You must buy it from Goldwagen using your VIN number. Theres different ones on the VWs. You also might have a wiring problem. Is your fan working like it should? Going on and off after a few seconds?

Fan is goin on and off as it shoud. Thermostat also opens and closed. Used to have A/C so will probably look at the Bentley (if anybody has this?) to see if they fitted the correct fans etc.

Bought one from goldwagen. I am aware that there are different ones. Mine is the 1-pin. Not sure if these models has a 2 stage fan. Perhaps it's only kicking in on the second stage. As mentioned though, it runs great and I doubt there is an actual cooling issue
