Where are you guys hiding?
I don't see many local Twitch Streamers at all really.

If any of you DO stream....
What has your experience been?
Any standout issues we face in good ol' South Africa?

Now my post doesn't make sense because you edited the title :/
Main thing is server placement I think for twitch and youtube, no local servers to send your stream to so you end up with latency issues.

I've only briefly experimented with it though so could be kek.

As of right now I am considering to be one, but I have stuff to work out first before committing

Anyway I can link you to some streamers I like to watch (we might have different taste and some of them aren't on carbonite)

Have you faced any major issues or setbacks with streaming? Thinking about giving this a go myself. Seems enjoyable enough.

Link the recommendations in this thread.
I'm sure others are interested too.

Links added above, @Pheymoose have been streaming for a while now, think he might be able to give more advice
Otherwise @CRE4MPIE also does it afaik, he gave me some mic/audio advice.
Like I said I want to start, so cannot really give you advice :p

GF streams daily... Only issue I've noticed is the server issues for locals. Even my 100Meg fibre up and down struggles to give a smooth stream. Thought it may be the capture card being used but it's the same with both the elgato and avermedia

Have the same 100/100 fibre line.
Would have thought this would be more than enough to stream without issues.

Actually YT has a local CDN

Interesting topic this, haven't given too much thought to streaming but do tend to record many of my online competitive game footage and upload to youtube. Have a friend that does Twitch/YouTube/some other feeds whilst we simrace in our racing league online

Send her link :p

@vinodh Streams most of our CS GO games. Any questions about streaming, he is definitely the guy to ask!

I'm currently streaming Twitch at 720p 30FPS using StreamLabs OBS. Even though I have 100mb up and down, I can't get more than 3mb to Twitch without frame loss. However, since Twitch doesn't re-encode the stream to lower resolutions/bitrates for a small time streamer like me, it's pointless going higher anyway since most viewers will be on mobile devices and don't care much about 1080p/60FPS.

Youtube however works better and I can stream at 6mb/s or higher with no issues but takes forever to process uploads while Twitch has the video available just about immediately.

I started using ReStream to allow me to stream to both Twitch and Youtube at the same time. Works great so far.

Unless you are partnered with twitch you won't be getting much more than 3500 - 4500 bps. 720p@30fps works well using a twitch relay.

This is something I didn't know.
Think this is a way to limit bandwidth requirements to twitch servers?

If my internet permitted I would be streaming but my upload terrible so won't work out.

So my brother will be joining me on the stream adventure. He won't be playing mind you. Just in discord with me while I stream.

His glorious idea is to have me play a horror game every now and again. The thing is I get terrified easily and I won't even play horror games without talking to someone while I play.

If anything it may break the ice for interaction with viewers (if I have any)

TwitchZA also has a relay - stop sending people to the CISP relay - it screws with CISP clients trying to stream :p
Which relay is better in your opinion? TwitchZA or CISP?

I'm with CoolIdeas btw :p

I don't think they're any different imo - i started with the TwitchZA one - i've been using the CISP relay now for some time without issues. 720p @ 60fps @ 4500 bps with 0 dropped frames over 2 - 3 hours streams.
