Technology Explained What sound setup do you have for your PC?

I know, that just seems like a _lot_ of power to be using consistently. Or maybe very insensitive speakers. If you're ever in the West Rand, swing by and I'll show you what 25w can do ;)
I have a large-ish house. I like to be able to hear the music throughout, including outside by the pool/braai area.

My doubles as a club for me and the wife. Fully setup including lasers :p

Razer Tiamat 2.2 headphones.
Fifine microphone.
DIY speakers with an active sub on a Yamaha E810 amplifier for when I'm home alone.

So i got gifted a new set of Corsair Virtuoso rgb headies to replace my old phillips and fostex. I have a STX so not doing the wireless thingy and boy do they sound good. Tested it with the STX, onboard Realdrek and the wireless receiver. It's like driving a chinese car from the 80's and driving a new Rolls. I am amazed and so happy right now.

Got logitec x530 setup when alone and arctic 7 headset when gaming with friends

In life you have to understand that half the world is dumb, and then accept that half of them are even dumber xD

I don't have speakers, haven't really had a use/interest for them. Only looked at one or two set's but nothing enough to make me want to annoy the neighbours/ girlfriend / wife / wife+girlfriend 😂

Logitech z2300
And
Beyerdynamic st770 with Vmoda boom pro.

Corsair HS50 pro headset - had them for a few years but they're super comfy and have decent sound for their price
and a crappy set of JVC bluetooth speakers that I will throw out the window one day soon because they keep disconnecting after an hour of gameplay.

I'm using a ifi zen dac v2 for my Hifiman Edition XS and Sennheiser HD560s and as a dac for my NAD 3020A powering a pair of Boston Acoustics A40 bookshelf speakers. For a mic I'm using a fifine T669.

Even though these speakers and amp are almost 40 years old their sound is on par with a HD 560s with some EQ to tone down the warmth

Asus Essence STX ==> Mogami RCAs ==> Topping A90 ==> Sennheiser HD 650 / Grado SR80e / Shure SE215

AntLion Modmic Wireless for the comms.

Sorry, opportunities to show off your stack come along once in a lifetime usually my wife is like:

Grado SR80e's have been upgraded to SR225e's. Wife still gives me the same look though.

My sennheiser hd600 has been in storage for more than 2 years now, it's cause I don't game online anymore.

Only upgrade I did was going from a Denon x2200w to a X3500h, mainly for the eARC which works well.

I wouldn't sell the hd600 though, such a classic piece.

I am using 2 systems
speaker wise Logitech Z906 (love this)
Headset Corsair HS60 Pro
Looking to get Corsair VOID RGB ELITE USB for headset replacement hopefully in December

I would avoid the Void's if you are looking for anything even comparable to your HS60's imo.
Had the Void Pro's (wireless tbf) and they sounded flat, even when compared to my current SS Arctis 7's...
Not to mention absolute god awful build quality... ear cups got destroyed within a year, and normally these last me quite a few years before the ear cups tear.

Hey there,

Thanks for the for the advice didnt want to buy without getting more feedback from others
So rather go for something like the Arctic's

Went back and forth on sound, and kept sticking to the Logitech speakers, headsets etc.

Just never satisfied.

Then just took the plunge and bought Edifier speakers, and a Polk audio 10" sub, connected through my computer's SPDIF - Still need to get a sound card to improve the output

Polk audio psw10
Edifier R1280DBs

Since I've installed this, music is pure bliss! I'm amazed at the sound quality compared to "computer speaker" sets like Logitech's kit.

I can hardly push the volume past the 40% mark(It's just to loud and the bass shakes the room). I'd advise anyone to rather invest in a similar set

For a mic, Fifine, quite happy with the quality as well
