Semi Rant here goes out to my all time favorite band.

What the actual F*** guys.

With their latest release: Good Goodbye

So don't get me wrong, I actaully really like this song (surprisingly) it beats the holy hell out of "Heavy".

But it's just not LP, what happened :( I know it's been a long coming decline, but The Hunting Party actually gave me hope, as it was heavy as back in the day and most of the songs were actually good, I thought. I saw them live in 2012 and it was the greatest day of mah lyfe, because they played all the good stuffs, the old stuffs. I just hate to see the once great band going down the road they are.

Anyone think of the reason why they would be doing this to their fans?

They're making music for the love of making music. They are not obligated to anyone for anything. I also miss the LP of old, but then i pull out my old playlists and I'm satiated.

If you were a musician, would you keep making music your fans want you to make? Even if you no longer feel joy in making that kind of music anymore? Even if making that music becomes a chore? Or would you keep chasing what made you become a musician in the first place?

They have their reasons for doing what they're doing ;)

I also don't think he can sing that way anymore after his surgery and such.

Out of interest, Linkin Park never even really liked the music they made, even from the start. There's a reason Fort Minor exists, and you can hear from Fort Minor's music that Mike put a lot more thought and heart into FM, because that's what he likes.

I still have Fort Minor on my playlist and I don't even do rap really, the rising tied was one of the greatest rap albums ever. In my case not being a rap man it is the best :)

Seriously had some hope 2 years ago when they dropped the single, but since then nothing. So disappointing!

Well a few years back i went to watch the live show in JHB and he did a few older songs and it was awesome.Would he be able to do an entire concert with just the classics I really think he would suffer but he would be able to do it ...I think the main thing is times are changing and they have to change with it and its amazing how they change as well.As musicians i think they really enjoy the music they make.

The older stuff breaking the habit, in the end etc that was linkin park remember jamming cs source at lan's just blasting Linkin park but that was when i was a kid now the kids of to day will listen to the new things and think its better then the old probably. I will still support Linkin park the music that they are putting out is not shit its just different.s

I must agree with this mike shinoda is a genius with rap..This is not to derail or anything but i started to listen to some Eminem 2 years ago and i must say the one thing i really like about Eminem is that he does not just rap about ,bitches ,money, drugs beers etc.He actually makes sense i cannot stand american rappers

I get you, it's really interesting though that they'd make such a drastic change, that their taste in music has changed so much. Either way, I still listen to the old stuff every now and again.

My point is that they are doing what feels right to them

I really think the main reason LP changed so much was to stay with the times not get out dated and forgotten ..The old stuff for me the best music but its early 2000 music. just think how many bands are just gone broke up or whatever could not change to keep up with the times. thePridge we had the same discussion last week about the song heavy

Exactly. They're starting to do what they (or their label) wants, not what perhaps people want.

What makes Eminem successful is the fact that he raps with emotion about his life and experiences. No other rapper in the world has managed to hit home as hard as he does. Listen to songs like Mockingbird from him. That shit will draw tears if you understand and listen to what he actually says. It's incredible. Fort Minor's Kenji is right up there as well, it's incredible. Mike Shinoda's nickname is actually "Kenji", listen to that song and feel the history and emotion in it. It's really, really incredible.

When you are a musician you get bored of making the same record everytime, playing the same genre constantly.
Ive been playing guitar and drums for many years and wow if I had to play metal and nothing but metal I would go insane.
Before I got really into playing music I would say ooh what the hell is this or that band thinking changing their sound?? But now I get it, just like any art form you are constantly trying to do what pleases yourself artistically and not just what other people want from you.

I love Hybrid Theory! did not care for any of the other LP albums, there are so many other bands that do make music I like so I did not feel LP had any obligation to please my ears with every new release.

that is why i am saying Eminem is brilliant when he raps you can easily draw out the emotion in a song and actually feel sorry for the guy

People's taste evolve, both as listeners and creators of music. Expecting everything to stay the same is unrealistic. A bands new sound is not one you enjoy? Congratulations your taste evolved in a separate direction, if you were in the band you would be leaving due to "artistic differences."

But on another note: the ESP Guitar's comment on the new album is hilarious:

I say the same thing about Headhunterz going more commercial EDM instead of Hardstyle considering he is the face of Hard with Style brand, an original of scantrax, defqon1 and Ultra music. I still listen to his music, but listening to his Armin/Probz or Avicci remix instead of psychedelic or megasound is depressing.

Linkin park kinda the same, commercial now.

Headhunterz actually announced a month or two ago he'll be returning to Hardstyle. The latest Hard with Style, ep. 65, was done by him and they are reviving Project One also.
